Chest freezer food in freezer has defrosted and red light is staying on

Try plugging something else in the outlet. A lamp would work to make sure you did not trip a circut breaker when you plugged back in after defrost.

You have a bad relay or compressor

defrost cycle is innactive, will ice up shortly and may not turn compressor off, defrost the unit totally(Turn off for 2 days with door open) and remove all water from the unit once done. You have to remove all the food to a good ice chest with no ice. Pack it as full as you can before starting another one. You may need to put some in your refrigerator freezer. It will stay frozen for several hours while you melt the ice in the chest freezer. You can direct a fan blowing into it to speed up the melting. If it doesn't have a drain to catch the water in a tub you'll have to soak the water up in a towel etc. Don't chip at the ice to break it up quicker. You can damage the refrigeration coils.

try a total defrost,to clear any internal ice(every 12 months)then switch on and if you have a rapid freeze button leave on for 24 hours to get back to normal operating temp.if you have hard ice around the door seals then you have an air leak which you must sort out(try using a hot cloth to warm seals back into shape.....seals should fit all round, all the time.

we got alot of ice chest and cleaned out the ice. this fixed the problem so far. we dint lose any food thank goodness.
