Hello
Nickel-Cadmium battery will have a voltage of 1.2V. Four cells together with in series connection give you 4.8VDC, The number 8000 on Denon battery denotes, that it has a current rating of 8000ma [milliampere]. Most of the Ni-Cd batterys will have the same rating. You can use any company's prodcut, provided the size should be the same. That is all. Some battery packs will have 1 ampere capacity, can be used in place safely. No problem at all. OK.
Dear granggreen....Patrick here....
Even if you have performed these functions I want you to do them again. Remove the battery cover, remove the re-chargeable battery and it's blocks that hold it in position. Install new AA batterys, press the RE-SET BUTTON and hold for three seconds. If these steps prove nothing my instinks say that one or all Joy Stick discs are flat. Surgery is needed.

Patrick here....aske the seller if the rechargeable battery and AA battery blocks are still withe the RC- 8000. In writing from the seller have them clarify that the joy stick/ selector works. Pay no mre than $125.00 if the RC-8000 is perfect.

Dear dalton....Patrick here
I believe this may be impossible with normal use. Alarge magnictic force would do this. My RC-8000 had odd ball problems that it was sharing with my 5803. Once I fixed the JOY STICK all other problems went away. If it has programing issues, then Denon will have to deal with it. Use there Portland Ore. Service Center and Pay the money.
