If you tip it onto it's side, i think you then push in a couple of buttons, one on what would normally be the bottom and the other on the top, then the case will hinge open.

You'll need to have it laid on the correct side though.

Hd not recognized in dell optiplex gx150

Quick look at info form DEll gx150 Dell Search All Dell com shows me your motherboard is useing 40 pin ATA interface. So you need to be sure the drive is set to "master" or "Slave" and plugged into the ribbon for the interface in correct order. Master is located at the end of cable, slave is in the middle of the ribbon. Drives also have jumping pins that need to be set for Master and slave. There is a difference from one manufacturer to another. But the info is on the drive itself most time. Look close at the label on the drive for the settings for slave mode.

How can I remove the cover on a Dell Optiplex GX150? I have the Tower version, not the mini one.

I think this tower is of the clamshell design where the whole chassis opens up down the middle. Try pressing the pressure points on the top and bottom of the tower and pulling the tower open. No covers will come off, it will open on a sort of hinge to expose the inner workings. Here are some pictures from Dell of how this works on the smaller model, it should be the same for yours: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx150/sm_en/smdsktp.htm#computer_cover

click on computer cover, or scroll down to that section
