I have an older reddy heater propane 35000 btu the flame is pretty yellow it runs but tends to flicker and sputter some days will only run 30 seconds other days will run 1/2 hour but always easily restarts...

The flicker and sputter is usually a sign that the unit and more specifically, the fuel nozzle needs cleaning. Anything that would cause restricted air flow, needs to be removed.

In case you have misplaced your Owners Manual, I have included a link to it. You can download and print it for future reference, if you like.

My 35000 btu will not stay lit. after i take my finger off the propane gas butten the flame goes off. what is wrong. this is a ready heater

I would venture to say that it is the thermocouple not picking up signal to keep the gas valve open. You can try cleaning the bulb end with steel wool and positioning it in the flame remember the hottest part of the flame is out on the end.

Is there supposed to be flame coming around the cone of a 115,000 btu reddy forced air kerosne heater?

no. the flame should be behind the cone. If it passes the cone, this means that there is too much air. simply turn the air pressure screw until the flame no longer comes beyond the cone.

Propane Reddy Heater

AIR MIXTURE ADJUSTMENT IS CRITICAL ON ALL GAS BURNING HEATERS. SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE INSUFFICIANT CUMBUSTION AIR WHICH WILL CAUSE A WHITE AND LAZY FLAME .... FLAME SHOULD BE BRIGHT BLUE WITH NO WHITE OR YELLOW TIPS ON THE FLAME.
