Canon powershot zoom lense is stuck how can i get it to

There are a few things you can try. Here is an excellent blog about lens errors and stuck lenses, and it covers what can be tried to free it up:

They say about 50% of lens problems can be fixed trying their suggestions. Hope you're one of the lucky ones! Also, if nothing works, get an estimate before having it repaired. Often, it's just better to get another camera.

My samsung pl50 won't turn on it just bleeps at me when i try and the shutter is stuck out. it was working fine when i was taking pics of my sister then it just shut down n won't turn back on

I've sent back 2 phones with this exact problem. Came on here and found the solution on the blog from another camera. It works! Here it is:
Figured it out....the zoom lense, while in the open position, was a little out of line, thus preventing the camera from retracting it. After gently re-aligning the lense, it retracted properly and the camera resumed normal functioning.
So basically, wiggle the lens every so slightly then try the power button again. Hope it works for you!

My camera lense is stuck and my camera wont turn on

hi...The transmission system that moves the lens in and out has a problem with it's gears. There is most likely a gear or an actuator that has fallen out of alignment and is getting stuck at a certain point as the lens comes in/out.There is some disturbacnce of the lens arrangement that is preventing the lens from coming in/out.Any of these symptoms above could trigger the camera to shut itself off to protect itself from further damage.

thank u

Zoom on fuji f650 stuck

Hi Sandra, Try power reset for your camera. Turn the camera on, and without turning the camera off, open the battery door and take the batteries out. Leave it for a minute or two. This helps camera get reset and helps correct the basic functionality and also zoom error. Hope it helps u otherwise u will have to take it to authorised repair center. Good Luck.

Shuts off when i try to zoom.....

I was also having a similiar problem with my z1275 and tried the "vacuum" thing. BINGO! It worked, and I was about to send the camera back to Kodak for servicing. You saved me money.

What did I do?

I turned my vacuum on, stuck my lense into the vacuum tube, zoomed all they way IN and then turned the vacuum off. My camera now works perfectly.

Before using the vacuum, I was only able to zoom about 50% before the camera would turn off. Thanks for your help.

Zoom and camera shuts off

Verify you have the right kind of battery and fully charge it.
The lense issue you describe commonly happens when the device cannot access enough power to function correctly, so it retracts and powers off to avoid getting your lense stuck in the 'out' position if the battery goes dry.

Zoom error message

Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!

HELP!!!!!

Does the barrel fully retract when the camera is shut down? I suspect a mechanical problem... If you're not very technical, I do not recommend opening it up... Try whapping the objective a little. I'm not kidding; the problem may be caused by some gears that got stuck... Otherwise, it could be quite hairy because the zoom motor or its controlling electronics could have gone bad...

Lens problem

If you've replaced the batteries with fresh ones, it probably has a broken zoom assembly. It'll have to be replaced by a repair shop.
