I have a Sharp Projector that recently flat lined due to the Lamp life ending. My question is, Will a cheaper $214.00 non-sharp product lamp be ineffective or will it work just like the in stock $559.00 sharp Lamp replacement?

SOURCE: I replaced the lamp in

First check your bulb properly matched with your projector. After changing the lamp reset the lamp hour (counting from 0hrs). Adjust the osd transparency.

If u set the lamp properly then It may cause the lamp circuit need repair.

Have you got yellow lamp indication before change the lamp? If occur then you have been late to change it. If you used it up to 2500hrs. then this problem may arise. Check those first if everything ok then may be the circuit have some problem, go to the nearest sharp authorize service center or visit website.

SORRY - it needs a new lamp. It is a protection for the projector so the bulb doesn't explode.

I purchase hitachi projectors with 3 year bulb warrenties now for our school as cheaper in long term

The lamp does not turn on at the first and at the second attempt. When we power on the projector, the lamp does not enlighten, instead, after 5 minutes, the POWER LED and the LAMP LED go red. We have to...

One possibility is a failing capacitor in the power supply. "Difficult power on" is a common symptom in many electronic devices; even dishwashers with electronic controls, and is a precursor to complete failure. A visual inspection of the power supply unit may reveal one or more electrolytic capacitors with a domed top, and possibly leakage out of the top. (See the photo at the bottom for a comparison of bad electrolytic capacitors with good ones. The good capacitor on the right has a flat top.) Replacement capacitors for low voltage circuitry usually cost less than $1.50, but there will be some labor involved in getting the power supply out for repair. (I use Panasonic FR series capacitors for these replacements because they have a long life and greater ripple current rating than most original parts.)

Did you reset the lamp hour timer when you changed the lamp? If not, you may have run it up against the limit (it thinks you never changed the lamp) and it's locked out the projector as a safety measure because lamps beyond their rated life are prone to explode. Four attempts to light up the projector after the end-of-life limit on the lamp will lock it out.

There is a procedure on page 68 of the owner's manual for resetting the lamp hour timer. You will have to estimate the time already used on the new lamp, subtract that from the maximum time permitted, then keep track of the time so you don't risk a messy explosion (glass and mercury vapor clean-up).

For your convenience, I've included a link for the manual (Adobe Reader or other PDF viewer plug-in required).

The "lamp" light keeps blinking red. Does this

The lamp life becomes 0%, when used
for approximately 4,000 hours with "Eco
Mode" or when used for approximately
2,000 hours with "Standard Mode" (see
page 43).
When the remaining lamp life becomes
5% or less, " " (yellow) will be displayed
on the screen. When the percentage becomes
0%, " " will change to " " (red),
the lamp will automatically turn off and
then the projector will automatically enter
the standby mode. At this time, the
lamp indicator will illuminate in red.
If you try to turn on the projector a fourth
time without replacing the lamp, the projector
will not turn on.
If you require the manual to help with changing the bulb, send me an email to [email protected] Put SHARP PG-B10S in the subject line. I will send it to you right away. Lawrence Brown

Projector image burn (retention)

first off, make sure you got the right lamp and it's from sharp, not a "lamp store". the quality varies. it could be burning hotter than it's designed for. second, you may need to reset the setting to factory default (through the menu options). third, you may need flash upgrade. you'll need to contact a sharp service center for that.

Cannot remove lamp assembly from Sharp XR-10X projector

flathead screwdriver under the lamp handle from the front and a sharp push down on the screwdriver handle (but don't break it) will dislodge it. it wedges in there pretty good.

Sharp DT-100 projector bad picture quality

Hi There Not sure what you visually describe as "blurry" This could be two things - a typical white screen will waste all the definition and brighteness unless you sit in a dark room Our ICE Digital Daytime Screens will take any projector and make the image up to 2000% brighter with a resolution reseolving ability of 20 million pixels. So in this case the definition you are alluding to could be lack of contrast, image definition due to insufficient light from the projector relative to the lux level of the room. Alternatively the lamp could be getting old. The brightness of a lamp falls off rapidly so as you use it more and more the image will become duller and duller contributing to a "blurry" or image lacking in punch etc.
The technical lamp hour spec life is only a manufacturers "up to xxx hours" and not what you will achieve in actual life.
If you want we are able to supply lamps as we ship internationally and also the same with our ICE Digital Daytime projection screens. Sharp DT-100 Lamp cost is $US261 delivered.
