I turn my sanyo on and its all good for a few seconds then i loose picture but still have sound ,,whats wrong?
It is probably an inverter or back light. Especially if it the screen comes on for a second or two then goes black.
Inverter and back lights are common problems in fluorescent back light LCD TVs and monitors.
There is a circuit that senses if there is a problem with the inverter circuit, which includes the back lights. If there is problem with an inverter or a back light, the lights will come on for about 2 seconds and then shut off.
The Sanyo DP42484 television has a problem with poor quality back lights. I had one that had three bad back lights. I replaced them and it fixed the problem. The TV now comes on and stays on.
Replacing the back lights is a very tricky problem. You have to completely disassemble the entire TV to expose the back lights. The hardest part is removing the LCD glass without damaging the very delicate ribbon cables that connect it to the rest of the TV or cracking the glass
I have a sanyo DP42848, it was making sounds then it went from having a picture to no picture with sound to now having no pic or sound. What could the problems be and can it be fixed?

You may have a defective inverter. The inverter provides the back lighting you need to see video. There is good chance the starting resistors have changed values. It would be best to replace the inverter in your case. I would have to have a schematic to find the bad resistors. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

This is a problem with the aspect ratio setting. Usually found in the setup section. You can use your owners manual to locate the setup section and find the procedure for changing the aspect ratio settings. You should be able to do with the remote control or the buttons on the television. You can call the Sanyo customer support at this telephone number. 1-800-877-5032. Give them the model number of your television and they will be able to help you . I hope this information has helped you with your problem.
Hi art_davis,
Power on the unit in the dark room then shine with the flashlight directly in
the screen, you will barely see the images. This is because your backlight is
not functioning. The following reason was the caused.
1. Power supply - missing
B+(supply voltage) coming from this board feeding the inverter board. This is
caused by faulty transistor, dried/leaky electrolytic capacitor, open fusible
resistor.
2. Inverter board - even
the B+ is good from the power supply, if the fuse, driver transistor, driver transformer
is faulty no output to the backlight resulting to black picture.
3. Busted backlight - even
inverter board is good but if this is busted resulting to black picture also.
Check the parts here.
Diagnosing the fault is technical and if you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't fix it yourself, I would
advice you to look for an experienced
technician to isolate the
problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
