I am trying to replace a noisy, faulty fan [XFAN Brushless DC12V 0.14A RDM5015S w/2 pin connector] for my Samsung BluRay player [HT BD2] on my own and can't seem to find that brand online or at my local computer shops. The BluRay player has been displaying Check Fan error messages and shutting off after 5-10 min. I cleaned the fan off and put some lubricating oil on the bearings and it turns on and spins but is rather noisy and seems to be very sporadic in it's speed--but the error message is gone [watched 2 hour BluRay no issue, 1 week of normal TV usage, no issues but the fan is unbearably loud even after mounting and remounting: it vibrates a lot in it's housing]. I read that there are a lot of issues with these fans in these Samsung units. I'd rather just replace it. I tried a 12V 0.06A fan that I had from a left over computer build and when I connected it to the BluRay, it worked and spun up but the BluRay displayed Check Fan. The closest replacement fans I could find had either 0.12A or 0.15A ratings. Does the BluRay have a sensor that is checking for a threshold amperage draw? Should I go with the 0.12A or the 15A? The 0.06A didn't work so I am leaning towards the 15A. Anybody with any insight into any issue similar to this, please let me know. Thank you so much.

RDM5015S,Samsung AH31-00039B which I believe will be replaced by AH31-00056B, G5015M12DCS. The parts list quotes 0.12A rating on the RDM5015S fan which is marked 0.14A. I have some stripped down HT-BD2 head units.

The numbers you're looking at are the current drawn by the fan while it's running. The current drawn is a function of the fan speed. Your original fan was rated at 0.14 amps (or 140 milliamps or mA), so either of the ones you mention are close. The 60 mA fan you tried was either too slow, or because of the low current draw, the player's monitoring circuit thought the fan wasn't working. Since it's the closer match to the original part rating, use the 140 mA (0.14 A) fan. The little extra draw shouldn't make a difference to the player's monitoring circuit or power supply.

    You didn't answer the question. The poster asked which fan would work best as a replacement for a 0.14A fan - 0.12A or 0.15A. You told him to use a 0.14A fan, which he can't find.

SOURCE: i need a 2x2 brushless fan model # rdm5015s dc 12

Perhaps try Google's Product Search?

It appears to be a fairly standard 50x50x15mm fan with a two pin type 2 connector. Try looking for a two pin 50mm fan with a thickness of less than or equal to 15mm.
A quick search I've done can be found here.

I have a Samsung Home Theater and the XFan RDM5015S cooling fan has failed. Do you know where I might buy one to install in my Home Theater.

Found the Samsung RDM5015S XFAN.
This part that they sell is suitable for all Samsung products using this air circulation fan. Its 2 wired and with the correct fitting plug.

How can I connect my PS3 to the HT BD2 and get it to play dolby digital or dts audio? Thanks

Use an optical cable and then it should work just fine. Just saw Avatar from my PS3 through the Samsung HT-BD2 and the sound was excellent.
So go and buy an optical cable :)
My problem is to get the BD2 to download updates. It doesn´t seem to work for me.

NEED TO UPGRADE MY HT-BD2 SYSTEM

There are two ways to approach this. You can either download the update from Samsung's support page, burn it onto a CD, place the CD into your Blu-Ray player and let the update load...or you can connect your Blu-Ray player to the internet and let the player download and install the update automatically.

For the first approach, the upgrade file can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:
http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=us&CttFileID=2149020&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=N&ModelName=HT-BD2&VPath=FM/200903/20090318095607437/081227_01_HT_BD2_XAA.zip

...and the instructions to installing the file on your system can be found here:

http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=us&CttFileID=2149021&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=C&ModelName=HT-BD2&VPath=FM/200901/20090109105847140/HT-BD2_System_Upgrade_by_CD_Method.pdf

The second approach is detailed in the HT-BD2 User's Manual (pages 46-49). It requires you to first plug a network cable into the back of your Blu-Ray home theater unit, then connect the other end into a LAN connection on your wall (or into the back of your cable/DSL modem) Page 26 of the user's manual shows you how to make the connection.

HTQ100

Hi Karl,
Can you use the unit after the symbol goes away?
The operating manual may be downloaded at;
http://safemanuals.com/annexe_INSTRUCTION%20MANUAL_SAMSUNG_HT-Q100T%20-%20HT-Q100-_E.htm#

The closest symbol to the one you mentioned is listed at page 28 of the manual. It is the "elapsed playing timer" symbol. This function is controlled by the "Remain" button.

Page 10 of the manual has a similar looking symbol warning you not to use certain incompatible disc formats;
Do not use the following types of disc!
• LD, CD-G, CD-I, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs cannot be played on this player.
If such discs are played, a "WRONG DISC FORMAT" message appears on the TV screen.
• DVD discs purchased abroad may not play on this player.
If such discs are played, a "WRONG REGION CODE" message appears on the TV screen.

Page 54 of the manual lists a reset procedure in case the unit power trips off or behaves errantly;
• Turn off the power and hold the button on the main unit for
longer than 5 seconds.
Using the RESET function will erase all stored settings.
Do not use this unless necessary.
Jango.
