Garmin hotsync issue

I have a garmin ique 3600 palm and I can't get it to hotsynce with my computer. I am running windows xp. Is it not compatable? When I try to hotsync I get a message that says "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established.

    I upgraded to WinXP Service pack 3, and I get the same message:

    " The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check you setup and try again."

    I have the sync icon on tray. Right click and it is on local USB. I can't find any other solution.

    Thanks,

    Richard

I also have a Garmin iQue 3600i palm and I also can't get it to hotsynce with my computer. I am also running windows xp. When I try to hotsync I get a message that says "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established".
How do I know if I have the correct hotsync software as I just downloaded it of the net, could that not be the problem that I’m having? I have read on one of the forums that I should right click on the icon in the tool bar and set it to USB but I’m not sure that I have the right software for the unit.

Open up device manager while the unit is not in the cradle (windows button + Pause/Break button together then choose hardware tab -> device manager) or you can right click on My Computer and goto properties. Put the unit into the cradle and press the resync button and watch inside device manger. the unit will appear as an unknown device. right click on the unknown device and open its properties then choose to update driver and allow it to automatically install by checking the internet for drivers. It should work then.

Is it connected to the pc via usb? Try other usb port like the usb port on the back of your computer if your are using a desktop computer.

Is there a way to use ique 3600 with windows 7? ique does not syc.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and the iQue did not work. There is no USB driver and as far as I know there isn't going to be one. However, I did get it working by installing Windows XP mode and the Windows Virtual Machine on my XP system. You need to check if your computer can run XP mode and there are Microsoft tools to do that. After you get XP mode installed and running, there will be a virtual XP window on your desktop. Plug the iQue in its cradle and plug it in to the USB port. Use your iQue setup CD to install the Palm desktop in XP as you normally would. At some point, you have to tell XP to attach your iQue to the USB port. Near the XP title bar, there is a USB pull-down menu. Use this to attach the device. It will ask for a driver. Just say to use the Garmin-supplied driver. Wait until this finishes successfully. Before trying a sync, open the Palm desktop and go to Hotsync/custom and change everything you can to "handheld overwrites desktop" and save this. Push the hotsync button on the cradle. If it doesn't connect, go to the USB pull-down and click attach. It should work!

It says i have no connection between my handheld and my computer when i try to hot sync

If you are trying to HotSync to a Macintosh, you need to install Lycestra's PDiQue software available at http://www.lycestra.com/ique.html before HotSyncing is enabled. PDiQue enables a USB conduit between your Mac and the Garmin iQue 3600.

No syncro

I updated to SP3 and installed 3600 hotsync after upgrade. No problems.
Suggest you de-instal and re-install Garmin setup CD for 3600.

IQue 3600 sim card problem

from Garmin:
Question: Why wont the PC recognise my the SD card in my iQue 3600?
--> Answer: Go to My computer and look for the following directory:

  • C: > Program Files > Palm > (user name) > file called 'sync'

  • Double click on this file and delete the four bottom rows that will look something like this:

"SlotId=0
MediaType=1935960423
DisplayName=SecureDigital (SD) Card
InstallDirName=Slot-SD"

  • Then try a HotSync as normal, it should then 'see' your SD card.

  • If all fails delete a second user name as sometimes this interferes.

Why will my Garmin not sync into my computer?

First, right click the hotsync button in the task bar and make sure "USB" is selected (assuming you're using USB...).
If that doesn't work, let me know.

Garmin IQUE 3600 unable to HotSync, Windows XP

I think I have solved this problem.

Try this:

Go to my computer, right click -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager.

Locate your IQUE 3600, or Palm.

Now, if your palm has a Yellow Exclamation mark on it, that means that your computer is not recognizing the Palm. Select
Driver details. Re-install the driver off the "Setup CD" that came with your IQUE 3600.

This worked for me.

Good luck!
