I had the same problem and after looking into the registry files and driving everybody crazy around me , I made the diagnosis that software and drivers and decoders were fine and up to date - and that it was then a Hardware problem - and the laser eye needed to be '"tweaked". Asking around nobody knew how to tweak a laser eye ....??
I then used an external USB Disc drive and played DVD's with ease Hoooray !! Now looking to replace the CDRom DVD Drive of my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo ....all sounds very expensive - Thanks FIxYa for the help - Keep the good work up !!
Regards
annette
I have had computers lie to me telling me that all drivers were up to date and functioning properly but in reality I reinstall device and drivers and all was fine. not all windows installed drivers work properly but show no errors. whql drivers by the manufacturer are the best bet. when you plugged the usb in the machine installed and configured the drive that is why it worked for you. believe me I been doin this for 12 yrs and don't have much hair left..
