Question about Dell Computers & Internet

I have a Dell Dimension 4600. When I burn an AVI file and play it back, there is some missing audio and jumping video that occurs. I have burned DVD videos with no problems. What could be wrong here? Thank you. Andy

Maybe you can check on this article "Why There is No Sound after Burning DVD" which offers some solutions for no sound issue after burning DVD.

Basically, the reasons can be as the following:

1. The audio in the original digital video to be burned to the DVD disc is out of order.
2. Audio and video filters.
3. System codec missing.
4. The operating system drive is out of date.
5. DVD disc incompatibility. If you are inserting the DVD discs to a disc drive which is not compatible with.

1st convert AVI files to MPEG2, use a good converter....
use WINAVI 9...
use a codec called FFDSHOW....
use Nero (Nero Vision) to burn DVD...it will take some time...to burn...
i bet your will never fail .

or
just
add the AVI file in Nero(Vision...make movie option/ Export option / Configure option...) and let it convert to MPEG2 first....
then use the Make DVD option in Nero Vision and then make your menu etc and Burn

I am showing no disc on the dvd player but the audio and video are plugged in along with the remote plug in. Is their something I am missing.

Are you trying to play a burned DVD or a purchased/rented DVD? If so, the movie files will be in a different format. (e.g. .avi or .mpg versus VOB files). Some dvd players will play burned dvds, the key is to look the acronym DIVX. This ensures that the dvd player will play .avi and .mpg files.

Replacing a cd drive

The 4600 has PowerDVD to play DVDs (You should have the software CD to install it on the 3000) DVD burning software would be Roxio/Sonic, and you should have that CD too.
If you don't have the CDs, then try download.com to download Free player software and Burning software

Sony CD/DVD Player DVP-NS50P not playing my avi files DVD+RW

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.
