Normally you plug GPS into your computer and download map updates from Garmin website, I will post links below with Garmin instructions,manual,and software. press the helpful button
Have you tried re-flashing the unit with the latest EU firmware update available from the JVC website? http://www.jvc-victor.co.jp/english/car/support/navi/nt1/eu/index.html Should overide the current firmware then allow you to use UK maps. If it doesn't work you can always reflash it with the USA update.
By default, the TomTom ONE 125 does not include maps of Canada. You can do one of two things:
1. If you just purchased it and can take it back, buy a TomTom ONE 130. It includes Canada maps and usually is only about $10-20 more.
2. Use the TomTom Home software (the same one that you use to update the TomTom and add voices, etc) and purchase the maps for it. I'm not sure how much they are, but certainly less than a new GPS.
Unfortunately you cannot install Sony North American maps on your GPS but you can add another GPS application as iGO8 etc. Let me know if you decide to sell your GPS here in Canada. Regards
The reason the 125 is cheaper is because it only has the US map on it. Each map contains an activation file that prevents it from being used on different devices, so its doubtful that the other map will work for you. You can purchase the latest Canada/Alaska map from TomTom's site for $59.95.
Go to http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/
Select your device as the ONE 130 (since they don't have 125 on the site) and choose the Canada/Alaska map.
Contact LG directly. I live in Canada and called LG Canada who advised me that they had a few 2008 map updates in stock. For some reason neither they nor Navteq advertises the availability. This is not good customer service.
The only way to update the maps is to purchase new maps from Garmin and download them via the computer. The 2008 map updates are currently available, and Garmin has told me new maps will be out in a few months.
