I have never replaced an off on switch on a personal WW but it sure sounds like it is bad. You can buy one for 15.00 from us.

Many possibilities; Check to be sure the printwheel is properly installed, then try turning it on while moving the flat keyboard connectors around if it works see my tip under WW1000.

If the 1 &2 lights are flashing check the keyboard conectors and see my tip under WW1000.

Check chrome carriage rail, make sure is clean with a slight amount of oil such as 3 n1. move printer back and forth, does it move smoothly. Also could be a bad on and off switch they do go bad I stock them just for this reason. Some times to get to work drip a small and I mean small amount of WD40 down the orange or red switch to allow it to get into switch contacs.

I have a IBM Personal Wheelwriter 2 by Lexmark and when you turn it on it beeps and then the single and double space lines light up and stay on but the it will do nothing else. (It's like it is locked up

try turning the machine off put a SMALL amount of oil on the large round rod running across the typewriter manually push the print head left and right a few times to see if it will loosen up. The problem is usually caused be drying oil you may consider having it serviced by a pro.
