I have a noisy fan on my OptiPlex GX280. Dell is stating that there is a driver down load to fix this problem (Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio) When the "Dell Driver Download Manager" appears it states that there are no files to download and tells me to go back to "Drivers and Downloads" i.e. I can't download the driver. Anybody know why? My Browser is FireFox

Sound driver

You can download the sound driver for Dell OptiPlex GX280 PC Desktop by visiting Dell.com.

The sound card present is Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio. Driver available is for XP and 2000. This may or may not work with Vista or 7 but there is a good chance it will. IF not then you may need to search for custom drivers, call Dell support or move to a better system.

Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio

For all other drivers click here.

Sometimes the link may not work, just reply back and i will give you another link.

Audio driver is not installed

i have the same computer (dell optiplex gx280). yeah windowsXP does not support it so i went to dell.com to download the sound driver for my model and it worked well. i think its the ADI 198x Integrated Audio Driver.

follow the link below
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PLX_GX280&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

if the link does not work then you have to do it manually. go to dell.com under support/drivers and downloads. just follow instructions. choose desktop and then the model. afterwards it'll show the drivers selection.
