Quantary 70-300 1:4-5.6 LG, is it compatible with digital canon camera?

If the lens is compatible with your Canon, the only thing I can think of is a defective chip or a bad connection inside the lens.
just bring it back to the shop you bought it.

From what i've read it might be a EOS Canon EF compatible lens. I really need to see the bottom of the lens (the part that connects to the camera) to be able to say anything more.

All Canon EOS cameras (including the film Rebels and the digital Rebels) can use the same EF lenses.

There are some Canon lenses named EF-S that will only work with recent models of Canon digital SLR cameras, but EF lenses will work with all Canon digital SLRs.

Hi all
On most lenses the way to test if your old lens works on a cannon digital to set the camera to AV then set the iris to the small setting ie F16/F22 then use the stopdown button.
Things that might happen
1 The lens will close down OK
2 The error 99 will show,will need are rechip if avaliable
3 Nothing happens, will need a rechip

Q.Why will it work inside but not outside.
A. Inside the camera needs light so the iris is full open, outside the lens needs to close down and if not compatible it is unable to close down. will need a rechip

Hi , connection from camera to the quantary ps-1 dszflash are compatible the adopter it connect during flash signal.You may return and bring your camera and test what ever compatible.

I have been researching this problem and found there's nothing you can do. Appararently, the quantaray, being an older lens, wasn't made to work with this latest era of cameras. Though it might work perfectly with your older camera, its technology is outdated as it relates to digital cameras and can't mesh with the latest and greatest.
