I have a Bosch dishwasher, model #SHU5312UC. It is making a grinding / growling sound towards the end of the cycle. Any thoughts what it could be?

The Control unit on your Bosch has a burnt out heat circuit. Just about every dishwasher has a number of "thermal holds" during the wash and rinse cycles in which the controller waits for the water to be heated to a specific temperature. Most dishwashers check for a temperature rise over a certain amount of time and will shut down if this increase is not seen, however, Bosch does not employ this secondary check and the unit will run for as long as you allow.
The Control Unit on your dishwasher will need to be replaced. Being as Bosch is extremely properitary on their parts sells, it is best to actually talk to a parts supplier directly in order to ensure you are getting the correct controller. It is very important that the replacement controller is for your model #, including the /17 designation at the end. A xxxxxxUC/12 controller will not work on your model.
The Control Unit is found in one of 2 places; 1) behind the Control Panel, or 2) at the lower right hand side of the unit towards the rear. Both are relatively easy to replace.
DANGER stop using your dishwasher HEALTH CANADA WARNING
Health Canada has forced Bosh to recall SHU 53 models. Risk of fire see link below.

hi,theres a overflow swich it the pan under the dishwasher...it might be sticking or your control board behind the disply for 1 min..is bad...call i will fun you through it...
bosch shu5312uc upper spray does not spin. pours water through the center section thus not propelling the arm. any ideas? should the upper arm have any o-rings
There is a recall on the control board of many of these models, butyour problem is likely not related. It sounds like a plugged drain system or a possible bad drain pump. That's why you are hearing the pump running constantly. I have written a guide to help. It is here. Thanks!
Sergio,
Did you get your problem resolved. By now I think you have found the two screws on the sides of the inter part of the door. Did replacing the module fix your problem. I have the same problem.
It sound like a pump issue.
Open the service panel, remove the pump and try to rotate its pulley manually, it should turn freely. In case it doesn't,check if it is clear from any foreign object or it should be replaced.
Good luck !
