Hp computer pavilian elite 460z, just opened---new ausus VE247H 23.6 inch monitor, cannot find which cable to use or how to connect.

Monitor settings shouldn't change automatically, by any means! Now the proble is to find why this happens.
If you are using windows, run it in safe mode and verify if still have the issue.
Eventually you should test it on another computer, might ask help of a friend; it should take just some minutes.
If you detect issue on another computer it is some electronc problem of your controls and shoudld find a way to repair your monitor.

if you monitor has a sound input, connect the cable to your computer. Open the computer sound control and select the monitor speakers (it may be the headphone output for your computer). You do not want to have the computer speaker selected.

HP.com has all you need , they made it and support it why not go there click support or their forum..

1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz (Full HD) , all day long, automatically.
if the PC has a DP port there, does it? if no , oops!
monitors are not PCs, monitors do not compute they are displays only.
the PC can PnP that monitor and the monitor tells the OS what it is and PNP magic sets the limits to above max resolution. or less

most PCs do not, so an adapter must be bought.
DP = display port (jacks/cables)
say dvi or hdmi to DP so the monitor can be used.

PnP = plug and Play.

Touch screens need drivers just like your mouse does. HP will have it. Whether it works with your computer is another question.

I had this problem with windows using HDMI. try letting the mac boot up all the way before inserting the HDMI.

The monitor will have a connection for audio.
The audio comes from your computer.
Must connect cable from your computer speaker out connection to your monitor.

Your screen Supports DVI, HDMI 1.3 and VGA inputs.

Your Computer should have at least one of these connectors. The cables should have come with the screen.
Match them up, I would use either HDMI or DVI as these are digital signals.
VGA is analog, but if you can only use this one then go for it.

I do not see a reason to purchase an adapter.

Simply plug in at the wall and into the Graphics card of your computer.
You might have a card or onboard Graphics.

The easiest thing would be to check your cable for a bent or loose pin. Next put another external monitor on the laptop. The circuitry to provide video to the laptop screen and the external monitor are separate except that they share a video processor and video memory. There can be bad electronics involved.

You will need to get a USB to parallel cable.
