Hi I have an sp50l7hx dlp samsung tv. The front display tries to turn on but the circular display just flashes with round circles. You can hear a humming noise from the back. No sound or picture. After a few attempts it goes into standby with a caution triangle and a picture of a lamp displayed.

new bulbs can leak on your pc board if not installed correctly and the fluid starts to short things out... triggers the error message.


remember always check the last thing you did before having problems.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

hi first of all u should check ur transistor connections.Check your Horizontal and vertical output transistors.You should also check the horizontal and vertical yoke connections as well as your low voltage regulators.... if any of these got damaged u should purchase a new one.. but try to purchase with the help of a tv service assistant...

Strange colors and flickering picture symptom shows problem with color wheel and/or dmd board.
Lamp is only light source in dlp tv and it has nothing with colors or picture flicker.
TV goes to protection mode because of some internal problem as mentioned above.
If you wish to repair tv by yourself then you should have service manual copy in hand and that can be downloaded from HERE for small fee.

In all likelihood then the ballast is failing, this is very easy to replace just a little board attached to the lamp by a couple of wires, just when you remove lower bottom have a look at the lamp wires and you wont go far wrong it's available here

The part is in that link highlighted in my last post just click on it and it will take you to the supplier, if you cant fit it yourself a technician shouldnt charge more than $100 for the housecall and fitting unfortunately there are a lot that want $150 just to turn up so if you could get someone whos practical this is very easy to do.
