I have no sound coming from my optical output on my tv. I have an onkyo amp with optical inputs, a ps3 hooked up via hdmi to tv, cable box hooked up via analog to tv, dvd player hooked up via analog to tv. I have tried to connect my ps3 directly to amp via optical cable and I get sound that way but not through the hdmi out of the tv. The problem seems to be the optical out on the tv. Any suggestions, thanks.
SOURCE: No digital to reciever??
This tv will only output the sound from a digital tv channel through the optical output when using the tv's digital tuner. So if you are connecting a DVD etc it will not output through the optical output on the tv. ONLY digital chanels through the tv's tuner will give you sound. Refer to the tv's owners manual for more info.
SOURCE: sony str bd-930 connected via digital input to ps3,no sound..
on the ps3 in audio options you have to set it so that the sound is going through the optical and not the hdmi. this it was I think the problem is.
SOURCE: NO AUDIO/set up problems
For this Sony, you have to use separate audio cable(s). Either optical in BD or Digital Audio in DVD (single coaxial cable will do the trick) I bet the display says UNLOCK. I had the same problem, very dumb.
Good day!
SOURCE: powers on - no output to TV
Ok, this is general hardware failure. This will need to be repaired by a Sony tech asap. the central board is malfunctioning at this time. Contact Sony asap.
SOURCE: PS3 surround sound
You will need the optical cable. My receiver only passes video through the hdmi. So I hooked up the HDMI cable to the tv, and the optical cable to the receiver. Once that is done you have to go to the audio settings for the PS3 and chose audio through the optical.
