Hi, my tv just turned off on me. When I turn it on the TV screen flashes and turns off again. I have a solid green light on the power button but no sound or picture. Any ideas
Re: Hi, my tv just turned off on me. When I turn it on...
HI: There are bad capacitors on the power supply that needs changing. Also check the B+ capacitors on the inverter board also for leaky caps or caps that are puffy on their tops.

The flashing green light is likely indicative of a self-test failure, indicating the TV has detected some sort of internal fault. With no picture or sound, one strong suspect is the power supply. Flat-panel TV's have an internal DC power supply that converts the inbound AC current, and when these fail, or are unable to supply a minimum level of power to the set, it can behave as you describe, providing only enough power for the green light to illuminate.
Have you even replaced the bulb / lamp on this TV - other than the green light - did they turn solid red / orange at any point? My initial thought is you need to replace the bulb.
Tv probally needed a new tv projection lamp. This tv has not been change it projection lamp like 1 1/2 or 2 years already?Tv been on and used it like 4 or 5 hours everyday?Yes,than the tv flashing or solid on green LED light is on have a word "LAMP" written on it tv bazel frame?Yes,tv 100% require a new tv projection lamp replacement.
I found this on another website, most likely it is your power supply capacitors.

Unplug the TV from it's power source for various times, ranging between 5 minutes and 24 hours..... Does blinking green light continue upon plugging in the TV.

Press Power and Display buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.
Insure that no front panel buttons are inadvertently stuck in an "engaged" position.
Diagnosis: If none of the above test resolve the issue, then the failure lies in one of the following:
Sharp tv are famous for this problems.Take ur tv aparts, where the a/c power cord go into it.That ur tv power supply board, check for all those dead leakage capacitors parts that bulges up on it top or puff up on it top.Than it ur power supply board, replaced those dead leakages capicitors or replaced the whole power supply board. No leakage capcitors on the power supply board.Than it 100% the Tuner board it dead, this board is where the coalax broacast tv signal cable go into it.This board can't not be repair only replaced, because it alway some ICS it the problems it dead on this Tuner board.Tries websties like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy either or both refurbishes the power supply board or the Tuner board.
SYSTEM RESET If the TV will not respond to either the remote control or the front panel controls and/or will not power Off, press the SYSTEM RESET button with a pointed item like the end point of a paperclip. The TV will turn Off and the TIMER light will flash quickly for about one minute. When the TIMER light stops flashing, you may turn on the TV again. Changes you made the last time the TV was On before you used the SYSTEM RESET button may be lost, however, the changes you made previously are not lost. POWER/TIMER Indicator The green light is a multi-function indicator. This light will flash rapidly for about one minute each time the TV is plugged into the wall electrical outlet, when power is restored after a power failure, or using the SYSTEM RESET button. Do not attempt to turn on the TV again during this period. Wait for the flashing to stop and the light to turn off, before attempting to turn the TV on. While the TV is powered on, the light illuminates steadily. If the TV has been programmed to turn on automatically using the Timer feature,
Check for bad solder on
convergence module. May have bad stk's. Do not neglect looking
for bad solder on dsignal and defl boards. Mitsubishi is very prone
to bad solder.
My Mitsubishi WS-73713 had the same blinking green timer light problem and would not turn on. I tried the reset button and unplugging power to no avail. I found that by simultaneously holding down the remote control "power" button and "volume" button for about 30 seconds the blinking light would go out and a solid green light would come on. Even though the solid green light came on the unit would still not power up. After doing this several times however the unit did finally power up in a normal mode and appears to be working again. It's worth trying before calling in for an expensive repair. PS - From here on out I'm sticking with SONY or Toshiba sets which have given be great service.
