I have ASUS EEE PC 900 series (White) netbook. I have formatted it and loaded it with Windows XP and within 4 days of use, my netbook was working slow and on the 4th day itself i tried to switch it on but the system displayed nothing after the first screen however, it remains on. Someone told that the SMPS is not working and one suggested that i should open the bios post message and change some settings over there because it might have got virus.....Luking forward for an urgent help...Thanx in anticipation..

ya ..previously i had windows 2007 but now when i gave it for formatting, that person told me that since it has only 512MB of RAM it cannot support windows 2007 that is why i compromised for XP.

This notebook is not designed to work on such an outdated platform. XP was for year 2000 not 2010/11
If you load Win7 and the motherboard drivers you should have no more problems.

Need to reinstall Windows XP on my Eee 900HA

Bill,
If you havent just replaced your hard drive or formatted it, try restoring from the restore partition. I have a newer ASUS netbook, so yours i believe should restore by rebooting the laptop and repeatedly pressing the F9 key. Do not hold down the F9 key, just keep tapping it when it starts up.

Follow prompts to restore your laptop to its original configuration when you first purchased it. Make sure to back up all your data, as it will be lost along with all programs and updates that have been installed since day 1.

If you have replaced the laptop or formatted it, then youll need to either attach a USB CD/DVD ROM drive or use a USB Flash drive. That method is much more involved, but can be done as long as you have a copy of a Windows XP CD.

Its an asus pc 1018series need to re boot how can i perform it

Your asus netbook should have come with a White restore dvd. You will need an external dvd drive to use it.
Just put it in and it will boot to the disk and begin the restore process. Follow the instructions and you should do fine.
If it didn't come with a restore disk, You can Load XP or windows 7 from new media. Every driver you will need is provided at asus' website. You will need to load the xp version of the touchpad utility, as well as the chipset and acpi drivers, even if you choose to load windows 7.
I'm using I Eee PC 1000HE with 2 gig of ram and a single core Intel Atom n280 processor, and it runs windows 7 just fine. If you need more help, reply, and I will help as muh as I can.

After windows XP loads the mouse pointer freezes. It is not frozen, however, when the netbook is booting. it is an eee pc asus. thanks for any help

Start the laptop up in safe mode, remove the mouse driver and re boot the laptop. Windows will see there is no driver and load a fresh one. Assuming the driver that you have is the correct one, Asus use their own, it will work.

If your computer is still within warranty, you have an option to request for a recovery cd from Asus which you can use to reinstall your OS. The only thing is, if you use the cd it will wipe out everything on your computer as it will do a clean installation of your OS. Just make sure you have a back up of your files before you use the recovery cd

ASUS eeePC 900 Keeps rebooting at XP load screen.

You're computer is booting that's not your problem. Its just not booting into Windows which is a different subject, so a boot disk will not do you any good. You have some corrupted files at the Windows end not the start up end. The only way to correct the Windows corrupt files is to use a Windows disc. So you'll have to buy/borrow a portable DVD/CD player and a copy of windows. Once the Windows disc loads then its just a matter of clicking on "repair" when the disc asks..that one of the drawbacks of netbooks..If you have any questions let me know..
