I have done some researching and found the following information about the meaning of the error code you are receiving and instructions on how to fix it. Please let me know if this does not solve your problem or you need further assistance. Another place to check is the microsoft website which gives detailed instruction about fixing the problem also. The error you are receiving could also be known as an error 31 and has some other errors you might receive. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Audio cuts in and out on a lite-on dvdrw shm-165h65

sounds like a codec problem during the conversion from avi to dvd. Try a different burning software program. Try this...instead of burning the conversion...try watching it instead...on the computer...if the volume problems exist there, then it is a software issue...

Dvd drive wont open , can hear motor working but drive wont come out. we believe the cd holder isnt shifting up/down to allow the drive to activate & open

Turn the computer off,Remove power cable.Use a peper clip insert it through a hole infront of the dvd drive this will eject the door.Make sure once this is opened the tray is aligned properly, slide it in and out.Push it in all the way then power up the computer. This may work for a while, before it goes again,so you might have to replace it.

Wondering if anyone is any good with lite on shm 165 drives? Been trying to figure out why it wont open the disk tray. No disk inside, pressing the button makes an audible clunk noise. Pushing the pin...

Problem found on mine: tray opening mechanism is belt driven, while others are gear driven, belt tends to stretch with time and slips on motor pulley, gears do not. Just cheap built. Remedy= Belt can be removed from front with open tray, soaked in rubber rejuvenation liquid for few seconds, cleaned and dried, re- installed on pulley.
It works now, but for how long, I have no idea.
