I bought one at Best Buy for my daughter a few years ago. I'm glad I bought a psp for it to replace the battery.

They haven't had a good reputation. The consumer product safety comission recalled a battery from a unit they made three years ago after reports of it catching on fire. It was a different model than the one you have.

The model number should be a an MDP-5860.

Here is a source for batteries and power supplies for that model

Missing AC adapter

If you look at your DVD player, it will have information such as 5V, 2.2A. This information will help you choose the correct AC adaptor. Head over to The Source, FutureShop, BestBuy, etc and bring the DVD player in.

As for a universal AC adaptor. These range from $15 - $50. Just make sure the one you get has the correct plug and voltage/amp range and polarity for it. The salesperson should be able to help.

Here is a picture of such an adaptor. This is a picture of the back of an electronic device, showing 5V and the polarity. If your player has no information with the AC port, you will need to look for a label on the device with this information.

Missing part

Charger does't connect to DVD player.

Connects to battery. Built your own, Radio Shack, female to male jack, power supply from anything handy or spend $2 at thrift shop, $2 multimeter (Harbor Freight, Cheapo), junk variable resistor (pot).

7.4--8 V adjust. Or, get fixed value resistor dependent on PS voltage.

Charge anything,

And power supply for DVD house current.
