Hello,
We just had the same problem in our nearly 10 yr old popper.
We opened it up and the black "stick" had broken in two pieces.
We cut a section of wire coat hanger to the exact length to replace the "stick". The new coat hanger goes through the tear drop shaped hole in the yellow plate (the popping part). It sits loosely in the white guides. It sort of seems like it will fall out but doesn't once you have it back together.
Hope that helps
Thanks, worked perfectly! Also when it was apart I cleaned the inside a bid, cleaned out some dust form decades of use!
Great answer, had to fix one today for my grandson and boy was he happy. Another 10 yrs of use. They just don't make stuff like they used to.
