need to get ps3 component cable that can hook directly to the router,if it is a wireless router goto ps3 setup menu, then turn on network discovery on ps3,then will ask for password from router fill password in,it will hook up.
with a modem alone you can only hook up 1 computer and have connection to the internet. Modem is not capable in wireless connection. in order for you to connect multiple computers to the internet both hard wire and wireless you should have wireless routers such as (belkin, d-link,motorolla,linksys, etc.)
The short answer is no you really cant use multiple modems. The internet should come in to your home via the modem, then go in to a ROUTER. Many times the router will have 3 to 5 ports on the back to hook your other computers too. This means running cables. Another way is to use WIRELESS cards that you can find on the net or from best buy.
If your router does not have any extra ports you need to buy something called and ethernet switch. Again they come in 4 and 8 port models up to LOTS AND LOTS Of ports for big companies. You hook the switch in to the router, then hook the computers in to the switch.
when sharing internet connection, it's all about sequence when turning it on... Sequence in regard to what's turned on first, second etc... Here's the solution: 1. Turn everything off... modem, router...computers etc.. 2. Turn on the wireless router FIRST and let it boot up. 3. Then turn on the modem and let it cycle up... This allows your modem to lock onto the wifi router. 4. Turn everything else back on... You should be good to go without drop outs...
If the power goes out, simply follow this sequence... It's all about the sequence!!
Sometimes the modem-computer-router not "sync" together. Try this. 1-hook the computer to modem. Internet yes? good. 2-hook the computer to router and check you IP. If it like 192.168.1.2, the router's DHCP is working. 3-reset router to default setting. turn off all and turn on modem, router, computer. keep me posted.
you have to power down all three items , turn on the computer then the modem then the route if this fails hit the reset button on the modem this shoul work for ya
Comcast is apparently weeding out multiple connections through routers. They want you to pay extra for their wireless router and pay an extra $5 a month too.
