A copy of the installation instructions for your units should contain how far it should be.Try to study it. You'll likely find that the over the range units will fit the standard 30" cabinet and also provide the required clearance to the range top. Consider the following:- power source (dedicated circuit, with an outlet box in the cabinet above). Venting (outside ot inside), and attaching method. Though they're simple in concept to install, it's a bit awkward in reality. The main thing you need to determine is sufficient space between the MW and the stove. You will have to check, but I believe you need 18" beneath the microwave. Many companies have brackets for that purpose.

Hi there. I have just moved in to a flat & have been asked if my stoves 050531075 gas oven is fitted with something called a FSD (Fire Suppresion Device) Would you be able to tell me please?

The are probably referring to an automatic fire extinguisher system, but from what I just read, the UK only requires a manual fire extinguisher to meet code.

The FSD would be fire extinguishers mounted on the wall instead of portable. They are only required in commercial restruarants.

I have a microwave oven that I need to take out.

These are mounted thru the cabinet above. there should be two bolts which you need to remove in the cabinet abobe. remove these while you have help holding the unit. it will not drop but is kind of hinged on the wall (a lip sits on a bracket on the wall) After removing the two bolts tip the unit forward and lift off the bracket on the back wall.Don't forget to unplug it and pull cord thru cabinet as well Good luck...

I have a double gas oven and no instructions

I have an O'Keefe & Merritt double oven gas stove. The model number is 72 7242 23. The upper oven is about the size of a large microwave and sits above the range burners. The lower (full-size) oven is below the burner unit and includes a broiler draw below it.
So, when you say, double oven, I wonder if you are just talking about the main oven with broiler drawer (both of which are below the burner unit.)

Mine was a builder-supplied appliance in the new house we purchased in 1986. The upper oven has never performed very well. And, yes the upper oven can only be used for baking.

I have an instruction manual for it, but it doesn't provide that much information. Getting parts for it is extremely difficult, since Tappan is no longer manufacturing this brand. (I've been trying to locate a flat oven ignitor for the upper oven and can't seem to find a replacement that's the same 6-1/3" length.) In the 1980s Tappan apparently purchased O'Keefe & Merritt and marketed this brand for several years. Models originally manufactured by O'Keefe & Merritt in the 1930s-1950s are considered collectible antique stoves!

Faulty bake or broil element

The solution to this problem depends on whether the oven is electric or gas. Electric oven. If your electric oven's bake or broil element isn't working properly, either it isn't receiving electric power or the element or the oven control may need to be replaced. In many cases, the wiring to the elements can be burnt or broken. 1) Be sure the controls are set on the proper setting. 2) Be sure the stove is plugged in and/or check the circuit breaker or fuse that serves that circuit. 3) Call an appliance repairperson or replace the element yourself as follows. 4) Unplug the oven and let any hot parts cool. 5) Unscrew the mounting screws that secure the element bracket to the oven and pull out the element far enough to access its terminals. Note which wires are attached to each of the terminals, then disconnect the wires (pull off the wire clips or unscrew the wires). 6) Take the element to a parts dealer, along with your oven's model and serial number, and buy a replacement (preferably the manufacturer's suggested replacement part). 7) Reverse the process to reinstall. Gas oven. When a gas oven doesn't get hot, it generally means that it isn't receiving gas, the gas valve isn't distributing gas to the oven burner, or the ignition system -- either an electronic ignition or pilot light -- isn't working properly. A common problem with ovens that have a pilot light is that the pilot light has gone out. NOTE: Gas ranges younger than 10 years old have a sophisticated fault code system that governs their ignition. Always call an approved warranty service provider to handle problems with these ranges. Here's how to troubleshoot your range: 1) Be sure the controls are set on the proper setting. 2) Be sure the stove is plugged in and/or check the circuit breaker or fuse that serves that circuit. 3) Check the gas valve to be sure the gas supply is turned on (also make sure the house's main gas valve is turned on). 4) On a stove with a pilot light, make sure the pilot light is burning. If it isn't, re-light as discussed HERE, or in your owner's manual. 5) Adjust the pilot flame (older stoves only). 6) Turn off the gas and unplug the stove (or turn off its circuit at the electrical panel). 7) Clean out the oven burner ports, using a stiff wire. 8) Plug in the stove (or turn on its circuit) and turn the gas back on. Re-light the pilot (if it has one). 9) If the oven still doesn't work, call an appliance repairperson.
