When I choose either cubes or crushed on my icemaker, my unit only crushes the ice. I already had the water inlet control valve replaced and there are plenty of cubes in the bin. It is a dispensing issue for ice-crushed only. The water dispensing works great. Thanks, Sue B

This manufacture makes 2 seperate style ice buckets one in the door and one in freezer with a large ice bucket and auger screw that turns... first we will explain the one up on a shelf in freezer side up top... if you pull your ice bucket completely out of freezer... there should be a small bar coming out of rear toward bottom of ice bucket assembly now put it back in where you got it but this time watch where the rod goes... there is a solenoid in the rear of freezer actually called cube/crush solenoid and what this does is if switched to crush will raise that rod and activate the teeth in bucket to crush ice... if not will let ice fall out in whole piece...this solenoid sometimes gets hung or will freeze ...make sure with your finger you can move it freely and then watch it with some assistant pushing the switch for you does it go up when the handle is hit... the ice bucket in door works the same way except the componets are in the door and a little harder to access... repost with any questions if this doen not help you out...good luck to you

Icemaker dispenses crushed ice when you select cubed ice

GE has a problem with the flap on the door which lets the ice out , not closing due to a rusted solenoid behind the panel . If this flap does not close , frost will get inside the ice bin , not letting the bin flap open to let cubed use come thru, only crushed . You can defrost the ice bin front and replace the door flap solenoid easily . If this is the problem , repost about replaceing the flap solenoid for further instructions if needed .

My ice maker crushes when it is suppose to be giving me cubes. The crushing unit is OK

When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

Icemaker crushed ice only, no cubes

I had the same problem of only crushed ice. The solution is very simple. Pull out the ice drawer and in the back on the fridge you will see a small square hole. This is the hole that the long rod that runs along the bottom corner of the ice drawer sticks into. The rod controls if the ice is crushed or not. If not crushed the rod twists and opens the door by the grinder so it does not grind. This rod is not opening the door. Put your finger into the hole in the back of the fridge and push down on the white plastic crossbar. Mine was stuck or frozen in the up position. When it snapped down and was free to move up and down I put the drawer back and it works perfectly. Good luck.

Dispenses crushed ice and will not dispense ice cubes

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

Ice maker frozen on "crushed" ice mode

Check the bar below the icemaker bin. There is a gold color metal bar that goes from the front of the bin to the back and goes into a lever at the back of the freezer. If the bar gets on the wrong side of the lever it will be stuck in crushed mode.

Can't make ice cubes only crushed ice

This happened to me. If you pull the ice bin out you will see a metal bar that extends from the front to back on the bottom of the bin. Find the square hole in the back of the freezer. Stick you finger in and slide the white plastic square up or down.
The switch you are moving is the toggle from crush to cube.

Can not get cubes from the front, just crushed ice and water?

Hi

ICE MAKER

Sounds like you are not getting enough water into the ice maker tray. When the ice ejector removes the ice from the tray, it may be causing the ice to splinter which is the crushing you describe. The problems could be:

* The water inlet valve
* The ice maker water inlet is partially frozen in the freezer section
* There is a problem with the water line (kinked or partially obstructed)
* The timing mechanism for the inlet water valve isn't working correctly

Check #2 from the above list first

Ice/water maker won't dispense

Icemaker only dispenses crushed ice even when in cube position. Water/light work fine. Have already replaced control module circuit board.

LG ice maker will not dispense cubes without crushing them

Check the evaporator system, that release the cubes, when that does not work the cubes stay stuck inside.
