Phone is froze up and will not turn on, the only thing that happens is the word PALM shows up. Is there a way to reset the phone?

To reset the phone, it should be without power at all. So removing the battery, when the charger is connected, will not reset the phone. Then when the battery is dead, it could show up as if it is charged, because the voltage on the voltage sensor can become high enough, to indicate the battery is charged.
First, disconnect the charger, and remove the battery. Wait a few seconds and reinsert the battery. Try switching the phone on. If nothing happens, the most likely thing is you have a bad battery.

Android is corrupted. You need to factory reset it. Hold volume down and home buttons while turning it on. You can let go of those buttons once the screen changes to the Android loading icon.

This will erase everything from your phone - so good idea to keep things backed up for incase it happens again.

Near as I can figure, this happens when:
- phone battery is allowed to die
- pull battery from phone when it is still shutting down (hard to tell when it's finish)

You tried taking out the battery completely? There is a reset button next to the battery, try holding the button in for 10 to 20 seconds.

I know this is a little obvious but it sounds like the battery is not charged or will not hold a charge. Charge or replace the battery. Your cellular store might let you try out another battery just to test things out.

Another possibility is that the phone is damaged from getting wet or dropped. If this is the case you must let it fully dry out or have it repaired.

Finally, it may just need a hard reset. This will reset the phone to its original settings and will erase any data that you have stored on it.

Did you poke the reset hole in the back of the palm? This does a reboot.
You can try that, or try plugging it in to charge and while it's charging poke the reset hole (this is supposed to reset the charging mechanism).

Well, thank God I had done a recent Hot sync! I found out how to do a hard reset by holding down the power button while reinserting the battery then letting the button go and the system will ask if you want to erase all data? I put yes! Then it erases all my data and restarts the phone. I had to plug the phone in to be recharged because the looping ultimately drains the battery. Then, I plugged in the Hot sync cable and pushed the button to start the sync and ta da! back to its working state! Yippee! Do it! It's easy! Just make sure to hot sync often so your info stays current!

ive had my phone for almost 2 months now. My old treo 680 didnt even turn on... this was a replacement. Now it seems i'm having the same problem again where the phone froze and now it wont even turn on. Its really starting to piss me off now and if anyone can give any advice besides "taking out the battery" or "hard and soft resets" it would be great.

I had the same problem. It turns out to be a bad or malfunctioning sim card. Get the card changed by your provider (you can still keep your phone number.
