Its just a generic USB cable -- try Radio Shack.

Can I use any USB to micro USB cord to charge Memorex wireless speakers

Please know MANY micro USB cables are simply DON'T have enough copper conductors inside each wire and often devices using these poor cables actually STARVE for voltage OR NEVER fully charge!

Pick on a quality cable!

The only truth about USB cables there is indeed a UNIVERSE of different types!

Boot error

Problem Solved: My MMP8567 screen read ''boot error shutting down''.
Everytime I plugged it in to the computer the computer would find it but then it would disappear almost immediately.
I downloaded the Updater program from Memorex but it couldn't find the player.
The directions from Memorex said ''Hold down the play button and plug in usb cable.'' 'Another set of Memorex directions said, ''Hold down the power button and plug in usb cable.'' Neither worked for me.
SOLUTION: I finally held down the LOCK/UNLOCK button and plugged in the usb cable. My computer found the player immediately and a software driver window popped up asking for a driver. I let windows search the internet and it found and installed the driver. The driver it was looking for was: ''player recover device class driver'' After windows confirmed it recognized my mp3 player I started up the Firmware update program and was able to update the player.
I tried to be clear and detailed. Good Luck ;-)

Boot error

Hello all:

I just resolved this same boot error problem with my Memorex MMP8567 mp3 player. After talking to technical support, they could not resolve it, so I decided to try it myself. Here is what I did step by step:

1. Downloaded and installed the firmware for the player from memorex web site.

2. In windows xp, click on Start>All Programs>Digital Audio Player>Memorex MMP8567 Firmware Download to start the firmware program.

3. Connect the USB cable for the player to the computer's USB port.

4. Remove battery from the mp3 player and connect it to USB cable. At the same time depress and hold BOTH the 'menu' button on the left of the player and the volume control button on the right of the player for a few seconds until you see "initializing" in your firmware software program. Then click on the "format" option within this same firmware program. (Note: this will erase all your files on the player, but will also get rid of whatever is causing the boot errors!)

5. When the firmware program is ready, click on start and wait until it is finished.

6. Your MMP8567 should now work just fine!

I hope this helps out someone. Good luck!!

Coby mp3 player

This is from Memorex FAQs (not sure if relevant to Coby but relevant to this forum) How do I remove songs from my digital audio player? All you need to do in order to remove a song form your player is make sure that your player and computer are in the 'on' position. You will need the USB cables connected as well. Open a window's browser or double click on "My Computer" and find the MP3 player's drive. Locate the song you wish to remove right click on the song and choose the delete option.

I HAVE A MEMOREX (MMP8640A) AND IT WON'T COME ON.

reinstall the firmware, following the next steps:

Download the firmware from Memorex site (www.memorex.com) but use the firmware for MMP8620 NOT the one for MMP8640, otherwise you will finish with your player starting with a blank screen.

FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS FOR MMP8640.

2. Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your PC.
3. Click on the start button on the lower left hand corner on you PC.
4. Highlight Programs, on the drop down page highlight Memorex Aptitude Digital Audio Player.
5. On the drop down window click on “Memorex Aptitude Firmware Download”.
6. Memorex Aptitude Firmware Download Window will open with a notice “PLEASE CONNECT
DEVICE”.
7. Press and hold down the MENU button on the MP3 player at the same time connect the other end of the
USB cable to the USB port on the player.
8. Firmware Download Window will begin initializing.
9. Keep holding down the MENU button on the player until the Firmware Download Window displays
“READY”.
10. Release your finger from the MENU button.

Have you tried using a basic small USB cable? The port looks the same as for the mini-A cables with the trapizoidal connector.
