Ice Maker not Getting Water

My Ice maker just quit making ice. It has a PUR water filter and in the door water and Ice. The water still works but the water to the Ice maker is not working. Does the Ice maker draw the water to it or does a pump of some sort from the bottom send it up to the maker

I have defrosted the freezer to make sure there is no ice stuck somewhere. I have checked the filter. I did all eleven steps under troubleshooting! Ice maker is not producing

If you fill up the trays with water manually shouldn't the motor in the ice maker make it empty letting you know that it is motor in the ice maker and not he valves in the solenoid??

There are two solenoid-operated water valves - one for the water dispenser and one for the icemaker. They're located near the water connection at the back of the fridge. There is no pump; the water pressure sends water to the icemaker whenever this valve is opened by the icemaker controls. Your symptoms sound like the coil is burned out on the valve. You can check it by disconnecting the wires and checking for coil continuity with an ohmeter. If the coil is open, replace the valve. Both valves might be combined into one assembly, so be sure you test both coils. Of course it's also possible that the trouble is in the icemaker itself, but a failed intake valve is more likely.

you've already done the first thing i suggest, and that is to change the water filter. But if you still cant get ice made, you have a problem with either your ice maker or your water valve, or an electrical issue in the ice maker system.

No water to ice maker.Ice maker quit making ice.

What I found was the problem was that I had not changed the filter on a regular basis.Because of this the water flow to the ice maker was restricted. What this caused was the water inlet tube on the ice maker to freeze up.On my unit it is a black rubber tube about 11/4 long on the right side. You can see it if you know what you are looking for.If you squeeze it you can tell if it is froze or not.You can use a hair drier to thaw it out or squirt water up into the tube .It does not take very long..To make sure it is clear disconnect the tube on the back of the fridge and blow into it.If there is no restriction the tube is clear. After you have determined the tube is clear add water to the ice tray so the unit will make ice this will start the ice maker to cycle. Its making good ice now.
