Question about Canon DC210 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

Can not finalize

I have a Canon DC210, and am having a lot of problems finializing my disc. When I go into the menu, and go to Disc Operations, it will not let me select "Disc Initialize" (the font is in black). The camcorder is plugged in and everything. I am trying to transfer my footage to a computer, and any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hi, Initially I had the same problem with the finalization process. But then i took off the battery pack and connected to the mains and immediately when i switched on the camcorder again, the ' Finalize ' button was highlighted i.e enabled. I continued with the finalization process and everything was fine. Was able to playback the mini dvd on a very cheap dvd player and also on a computer.

Also be sure to put the camcorder on play mode by sliding down the switch button to mode. You immediately notice that a little green button near play will light up

Hi,

Are you using the AC adapter when trying to finalize? You cannot finalize using battery power only.

Link to your manual:

Canon DC210 Manual

(What format discs are you using?)

Instructions for finalizing begin on page 61.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Initialize the discs then record...but then it still wont play on the computer/dvd player Canon camcorder dc210

I have a Samsung recorder, and it requires you to "finalize" the disc before it will play on another unit. Check your manual for specifics, or look in your menu for the "finalize disk" option. Hope this helps...

FINALIZING

The battery might not have enough power to finalize the disc, when you plug in the charger you can go to Disc Operations and Finalize.

Finalizing a disc (when plugged in) on a Canon DC210

I think it is a problem with the camera.
We had one, couldn't finalize, exchanged that, and still the same problem.
Canon NO help whatsoever.
Even the mini disc companies that we purchased, NO help either.
We are returning this camera and going with a hard drive.
We were able to plug the camera to a DVD recorder and copy onto a full size disc.
