My problem started out pretty confusing. One day I turned my lap top on and the screen, after about five to ten seconds of being on, went black. I could see things loading up sort of but the screen was too black for me to make out any words. The lap top remained on but I couldn't make the color lighten since I couldn't even make anything out on the screen. So today I took out the ram and put it back in -a suggestion I received from this site- and now the computer turns on and then turns off without showing anything. That problem is simply that I put the ram in wrong because I was rushing. I can fix that problem easily. But what I'm worried about is if the previous problem will begin taking place again. The only difference is that, before I took out the ram, the screen showed picture for about five or ten seconds and then everything would go black. Also, the lap top was still on. Now it just shuts off. I can fix that, but I'm wanting help with the lap top still being on but the screen being darkened.

Darkened screen as you describe indicates a failing inverter. You can test this easily by plugging the laptop into an external monitor, if this works ok, then the inverter needs replaced, If it does not work, the problem is with the graphics chip / motherboard

Leapfrog ipad ultra black screen white dot

During a normal shut down, the screen image on a LeapPad will reduce to a white dot, which will disappear in five to ten seconds.
In rare circumstances, the white dot will not disappear and the LeapPad will not fully power down. If the LeapPad does not complete the shutdown process and the white dot remains on the screen for more than ten seconds, complete the shut down by pressing and holding the power button on the LeapPad for ten seconds. This will fully power the LeapPad down, and it will start up normally next time you power it on. For more information contact essay writing service reviews

Computer won't start

When the screen is black, try pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del; a soft reset should kick it back into gear. Did the laptop shut down unexpectedly due to power loss/overheating/etc..?

Monitor Issue: 5 seconds of picture the monitor goes black.

I had this similar problem. I found out that there was a bad 1000uf, 16V cap on the power supply board. The cap is too close to a heat sink and over heated. I bought the cap at radio shack for $2, installed it so that it is far away from the heat sink. Monitor now stays on when powered up.

These monitors are difficult to open.

After removing the stand, you need to insert a flat screw driver at the bottom of the screen where two slots are located. Then work the screw driver around until the two plastic pieces are separated. Remove the cover plate and unscrew the push buttons. Unplug the monitor cords from the driver board. Unscrew the mounting screws from the power supply board and remove. You will need to pinch the plastic support in the middle of the board to remove. Unsolder the cap. It is located near a copper heat sink and the value will be on the cap. It will be buldged up on the top. You will see burn marks on the board surrounding the cap. Install the new cap and solder. Be careful not to solder across joints.

Reassemble and turn on. Should solve the problem

Ipod

I think your ipod is dead. This happened to me to. I was listening to it when I arrived at my destination, and I thought I turned it off and I put it in my pocket. Later that day when I went to listen to it, it wouldn't turn on at all. Aparently, it had stayed on. Hold the pause button for five to ten seconds. The apple symbol will appear on your ipod. Immeadility put it in your docking station before it goes away. Your ipod will turn on, and itwill start charging.
