I have cleaned the filters on my dust buster. The vacuum works for a minute then the battery seems to wear out and the power weakens until it stops. How do I replace the battery on this vacuum? Do I need just one 9.6V battery? What screws do I loosen to insert the battery? I can't find my instruction booklet. Tank you for your help.

In most cases the battery has lugs on it that are part of the battery and it is difficult to find a battery that is a direct replacement.

I am not certain about this specific battery, however, if many batteries are unused for a long period of time, they can not be rejuvenated.
Try the switch in each position for 24 hours and if there is no action, it is probably not worth repairing.

Response by small6363 was right on target. All the reviews and comments I had read up to this point for my Dustbuster CHV9600 indicated the battery could not be replaced. I am so glad this link was here.I have ordered the part and will follow the other posters' cautions about reassembling the product. I could not be happier as I could not find the model anymore and it is my favorite purple color. Thanks again small6363. You are a life saver.

Are the brushes worn down too far? As they wear the springs tension gets weaker. The brushes can also get stuck inside the channel they slide in. Could also be a buildup of dust etc inside and around the internal fan or commutator, etc.

I have cleaned & cleaned this thing! It runs for about 2 mins & stops, says "Clean Brushes"! and now it's very noticeable it's not picking up well... but is picking up a bit. I take the dust bin...

Ok, this is a "Brush Height Adjustment" issue. It will probably work great on a hard surface but on carpet the brushes bog. If you've taken the unit apart already...Sorry....do it again. When you do, you'll see a String which allows the brushes to "Float" on different surface heights. Loosen the screw a little and pull a bit more string through. Re Tighten the screw and put it together enough for a test run. Now reset the roomba. To reset the Roomba, power the Roomba on, and press the Spot, and Dock buttons together for at least 8 seconds. Until it plays a tune. The clock, and any schedule is erased at this time. Try running the Roomba with the dust bin removed to see the brushes spin easier.

Second method, is taking off the bottom cover, and removing the battery. While it's removed, and not plugged into the charger, press the clean button for at least 20 seconds. This will erase the memory. Replace battery, and cover. Run the Roomba to see if the brushes start to spin. You can also remove the brush housing by removing the 4 screws and reseating it, to see if it was a bad connection, since you have the bottom cover off.

Black and decker handheld vacuum phv1800 type 1 low battery power

Hi I know what you mean! My B&D dust buster used to do this too. The hi power boost means that it can only be used for a limited amount of time. Due to the age of the dust buster though its a sign that the battery is on its way out and regardless of whether or how long its been used or not used, batteries can lose power regardless.
Try to let the dust buster completely lose power and then charge it up for its initial burn in period of 14 hours. Also clean the connection metal strips or hole with a dry cotton bud incase there's any static or dust. Then see if it lasts longer. If the turbo mode or speed 2 is still short, then the battery is dying out.
I don't know where you are but in the UK its hard to get battery replacements for B&D products. You could check your local seller where you are if they have battery replacements but at the cost of current dustbusters it may make more economic sense to consider buying a new dustbuster.

DUST BUSTER 7.2 -- POWER LASTS FOR UNDER ONE MINUTE??
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The problem that people have with dustbusters is that when they 1st get them they need to say train the dustbusters to extend the battery life, the process is simple – when you 1st buy the dustbuster then you charge it up the 1st time and then you turn it on and drain the battery down to nothing, and then recharge the dustbusters again, and by doing that you have a larger battery life and it will run longer – but dustbuster and vacuums like that do not tell you and when people buy the item they just turn it on for a minute or two and then the battery does not get a “memory” as per how long it should run. By doing this the dustbuster will last and run longer and will have fewer problems. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Thanks, Don the Vac Man

Hoover fusion plus cyclonic upright vacuum

While I'm having a different problem, the problem you guys are experiencing can easily be fixed by cleaning the two internal filters. My vacuum did the same thing, just stopped running mid-stream. Remove the main filter cup. Look inside the cavity of the vacuum and you'll see a grey bar at the bottom of the cavity, pull this up and you'll find the first of two washable filters. Just rinse it under warm water squeezing as you rinse until the water runs clear. The roll the filter in a few paper towels or towel and unroll, reroll until completely dry - should only take a few minutes. Then, look in the same cavity except up top there is another filter which seems to be hidden. The back wall of the inside cavity will guide you to these filters as well. You will be amazed by the difference cleaning these will make in the suction power of your vacuum. Also, if you remove the belt cover and clean out the hose in this area it will improve suction as well. Hope this helps. Now, if I could just get the darn belt back on mine. First belt smoked and popped. Bought replacement belt, smoked and popped within seconds... HELP!!!
