How to recover windows7 operating system without loosing installed programs?

So far Windows 7 is turning out to be not only the fastest booting operating system but the most stable and user freindly...it is also very good at diagnosing its problems and fixing them. Download and run the Windows & advisor tool. This will scan your system and let you know if you have any possible trouble spots such as unsupported hardware or software. Now, drivers for devices are still not 100%, but if your machine originally came with the Vista Operating system then more than likely you are not going to experience any problems with the upgrade, Windows 7 is an upgrade to this and not a clean install.....but if you have XP, then you need to save your files to an external drive because Windows 7 cannot be upgraded from XP, it will do a format and clean install on your computer. There is a chance it will recover all your old XP files and programs and put them in a folder called "old windows", it will appear on your "C" drive.
