My Toshiba Laptop computer is slightly bright and I would like to know how to dim it. Thank you.

If it's a windows 10 laptop right click on the desktop and go to display setting and increase the brightness.

Occasionally, you may find your laptop's monitor is too dim for your liking. A normal desktop computer's monitor has an on-board menu system that lets you adjust the brightness and picture control settings as you please. A laptop monitor has no such controls. You can adjust the brightness of your laptop monitor using your laptop's keyboard.

1. Press and hold the "FN" key on your laptop's keyboard. This is the "Function" key, which operates much the same way that the "Shift" key does: It allows keyboard buttons to be used for multiple purposes. It's located in the lower left corner of most laptop keyboards, next to the "Windows," "CTRL" and "ALT" keys.

2. Look at the top row of keys on your keyboard for a key with a tiny triangle pointing upwards and the symbol of a sun on it. This is the "Increase Brightness" key. With the "FN" key held down, press the "Increase Brightness" key. On most laptop keyboards this is the "F7" key, but it varies depending on the model.

3. Continue to hold down the "FN" and "Increase Brightness" key until your dim laptop monitor has reached the level of brightness you require. A laptop monitor can only get so bright. It will stop at its highest setting.
4. Release the "FN" and "Increase Brightness" keys. You have now fixed your dim laptop monitor.

If the screen light dim with battery power your laptop, well, this is how the laptop is designed for power saving, unfortunately.

The screen will be more bright when you connect with the AC power :-)

You can brighten or dim the LCD screen by pressing the Fn key plus another key with the a sun symbol eg the UP & DOWN arrow keys or one of the F3 to F12 keys - it varies depends upon the model of the laptop.
If you cannot vary the brightness of the LCD screen the you have a faulty backlight.

Connect an external monitor to the laptop and power it up, if you see a clear image on an external monitor, this means your video card is OK.

If you see a dim image or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Try pushing Screen contrast to Max when on AC charger connected.
Allow several hours charging battery with PC off.
If battery does not completle charge Or if older than 3 years CHANGE it.

try function key for lcd it may be in presetaiton mode by mistake
or is lcd on / come on bright then go dim / dark just very dim if so your backlight is out replace lcd

No. there isn't, unfortunately. You need to download the touchpad drivers (probably synaptics touchpad drivers). My recommendation would be to go to toshiba's website. Wiggle the power wire slightly. Sometimes if the connection is loose it may cause the computer to go from battery power to ac power.

If that doesn't work, could be a loose connection in screen or a part is failing. Would take to a local repair center to check out.
