Unplug the modem and let it sit for a few, then plug it back in. If this does not work, check your power socket to make sure it is live. There are times when the power adapters do fail. My main router adapter failed out of the blue a few weeks ago. I had the same experience, no power to the unit, even though it was plugged in.

If you electrical outlet has power, then I believe that your power adapter may have failed.

I wish that there were another answer. But, I would rather it be the power adapter that fails, as compared to the modem itself failing.

If you found this information helpful, please remember to leave positive feedback.

thank you,

Brian

If you are connecting the router to a cable DSL satellite modem, please follow the steps below:
1. Place the router in an open and central location. Do not plug the power adapter into the router.
2. Turn the power off on your modem. If there is no on/off switch, then unplug the modem's power adapter. Shut down your computer.3. Unplug the Ethernet cable (that connects your computer to your modem) from your computer and place it into the WAN port on the router.4. Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the four LAN ports on the router. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port on your computer.5. Turn on or plug in your modem. Wait for the modem to boot (about 30 seconds).6. Plug the power adapter to the router and connect to an outlet or power strip. Wait about 30 seconds for the router to boot.7. Turn on your computer.8. Verify the link lights on the router. The power light, WAN light, and the LAN light (the port that your computer is plugged into) should be lit. If not, make sure your computer, modem, and router are powered on and verify the cable connections are correct.9. Skip to page 16 to configure your router.Connect to Cable/DSL/Satellite Modem OR

I have a 2Wire 2701 HG-B modem. It was working fine (3 green lights) then the power light turned red. I unplugged all cords and began searching online. After reading tons of similar complaints, I...

Sounds like Radio Shack sold you a bad power adapter or an adapter that doesn't meet the power and current requirements of the modem. Bring the old power adapter and the new one back to Radio Shack and tell them to get you one like the old one.

The modem says there is a problem and the power light does not work

Try to plug the modem in a different power outlet or try a different power adapter with same specs; if it does not work then modem could be defective ( hardware issue )

Flashing red power light

Try the following steps:
1. Disconnect the modem's power adapter.

2. Reinsert the power adapter directly into the wall socket.

3.Remove any power strips or surge protectors temporarily to ensure that these items are not preventing the modem proper operation. Note: Make sure that you are using the power adapter that came with your modem.

4. Plug the power adapter into a different wall socket in another room.

5. Press the reset and hold the reset button for 1 minute. Then turn it off for 1 minute, and then turn it back on.

6. If the power light is still red, then you will need to get a replacement.

Will not turn on. The power light was red, I unplugged the modem and plugged back in. No power light now

Try plugging the modem into an outlet in a diff room, you just need the modem and the power adapter that came with it.

You might also want to try to reset the modem, it usually has a small recessed reset button that you'll need a pen to push in.

If that still did not do the trick then you'll need to replace the modem.

No power on my 2wire modem

try to plug your modem to another outlet like the one in your kitchen or bathroom. if you are using a surge protector, bypass it, plug your modem directly to the outlet. if still no power, try to use another power adapter, if it still not working, get a replacement modem.
