Mitsubishi ws65713 picture goes out

I know these sets well, you lose brightness but still have sound?

If the green power light comes on for a few seconds and then goes out the set has a self check for error codes:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device"(input) and "menu" buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and two blinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.

Turn on the TV and only Timer light is on , no sound & picture

after holding down the menu and device the led will blink a two digit error code such as 3 blinks pause then 4 blinks then repeat that sequence a couple of times. Need that blink code to help let you know whats going on. The 34 code means lamp abnormality which translates to the power Pwb capacitors have most likely failed.

Powers off intermitantly

Good Day;

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. OR your TV has "COOLANT" (ethylene glycol) on the circuit boards. This fluid comes from the CRT's (picture tube) this fluid is used to keep the CRT's cool, such the name. This fluid from the CRT's leak when TV is on for long periods of time, the chamber expands and the seals leak.

One can remove this fluid by using "acetone" & small brush. The fluid is hard to see, use bright light, they spots can be smaller then a DIME. Also, the fluid can corrode the parts and traces on the boards. To protect the TV in future place heavy plastic or thick cardboard over affective area, make sure TV has proper air flow around TV. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Sony kv35s66: No picture, just sound and red blinking

This should be a quick fix. Try resoldering the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC attached to a heat sink with about 11 pins. It should be marked LA7837 or something similar. That should resolve the problem.

Keep us posted.

Power light blinks and no picture

No picture - screen is empty. Sound is ok
Check IC101 (BA7630F), if video signal comes to input (pin 1) but not present at output (pin 14) then replace this IC
No picture and sound, only a high pitch sound at switch on
Remove horizontal transistor and measure the resistance across any two pins. This value should be no less than 200ohms
Picture fades away few seconds after start-up till no picture. Sometimes no picture at all. Sometimes picture OK for longer. Sound unaffected.
Faulty joints on CRT pcb. Cracked solder joints at tube socket connections on CRT circuit board. Caused variable supply to CRT heaters. Resolder all socket pins to pcb.

RCA HD52W59 Turns Off

Hi, Based on your post/description, my guess is a loose connection or a cold solder problem (higher probability). Not unless you want to make another "30 mile trip", you have to find a local tech who is comfortable working with live/hot sets. The usual precaution on working with live/hot units and HV applies. This involves opening the back cover, powering the unit and with a foot long + insulated rod (I use a broken fiberglass fishing rod), poke around the inside of the TV, part/move the wires about, also press on the boards slightly. The idea is locate the loose connection or the cold solder. Soon as located, poweroff and resolder. If there is a component/board failure, the unit would not have operated intermittently. There is a big chance that the loose connection or cold solder just worsened and that cause the recent "chosen not to work". Further, the power light still turns on and you have not posted any other indications such as a beeping sound or blinking leds/lights which normally indicates failure. Hope this be of assistance/idea. Post back how things are or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
