The only 'balance' is to adjust the channels relative to each other with the test tones.

Page 29.

The "Effect/Channel Select" button on the Remote (left of the Menu button), will let you change the level to any channels while listening to a program. Page 22

"EFFECT/CH SEL +/- buttons (See p.38)

EFFECT : Use these buttons to increase or decrease

the amount of effect applied in a DSP or Advanced

Theater mode. When the amount of effect is

increased in a DSP/Advanced Theater mode the

characteristics of that mode become stronger and

more noticeable. The scale ranges from 10-90 with 70

as the default setting. First turn on the DSP/

Advanced Theater you want (by pressing the DSP/

Advanced Theater button until you get the mode) and

then increase or decrease the amount of effect.

CH SEL : You may want to adjust the channels when

listening to some sound sources. Use this button to

select the channel you want to adjust.

+/- : Use these buttons to select the amount of effect
in a sound mode and to adjust the channel"

Receiver channel volume not identical

Remote controls normally do not adjust stereo volume levels independently, and I will assume that the problem is present on ALL input settings (tuner, CD, etc.). Check "balance" control settings, speakers and speaker wires for possible problems. Balance control at 12:00? Inspecting speaker wires and speakers do not reveal problems? Have you swapped speakers to see if problem reverses? Try this "process of elimination" and hopefully you'll ID the problem.

You really need to look in the manual. The individual channel levels (and other parameters) are adjusted in the initial setup. This isn't your grandpa's stereo that you just turn on and listen.

"SW" stands for SubWoofer.

Page 8...

Shows the currently active channels depending on decoding mode and source material. Icons lit indicate active channels in the source material. Icons with a box around them indicate actual channels being output separately.

Search for the word "balance". Page 8 again (circled 8)...

Lights when the Front Left and Right speaker outputs have been set to different levels in the OSD, i.e. a balance adjustment has been made.

You can look at the relative levels of all channels as described on Page 14.

The receiver works ok until the vol is reduced and the right front channel drops out. Increasing the vol usually picks up the dead speaker but it drops out again when the vol is reduced. I've tried...

Make sure the audio level on the left and right channels are balanced. Check the menu for audio levels to adjust and make sure they are not maladjusted. If all levels are adjusted properly then the volume control or volume control circuity may be at fault.
