SOURCE: Alpine Ipod/Stereo Error 1 message

Sorry but the ipod should never "die" when it's plugged in. I own this system and have encountered the same problem. The ipod should be continuously charging if plugged in, therefore it should never run out of juice.
Things I've been told to do f rom Alpine themselves:
-Get latest version of ipod software from itunes
-Plug ipod back into unit (via cord) with car turned off
-hold the center button and play button until ipod resets itself
-take off alpine face
-press the little button behind face to reset unit
I have done this with some success. The problem returned once in a while, however, for some reason after doing the process listed again a few months back, I've not had the error.

SOURCE: hooking up alpine hd radio unit, bt-400, which one do i hook ipod to

Niether .... do you know what you have in hand? Both those extras costed someone some cash ... OK here it is: the CDA-9884 has a dedicated input for ipod (a KCE-422i cable is needed and comes with the new CDA-9884 in the box) ... The HD radio unit allows you to recieve new HD radio signals (digital radio, and stations that have it in your area may also have extra music streams like HD TV does). The bt-400 is a bluetooth adapter to use bluetooth enabled devices with such as a cell phone. If your ipod has bluetooth you could used the bt adapter but I suggest the KCE-422i cable instead, and check out the HD radio too, it's pretty cool.

SOURCE: No sound from my 9855 alpine

There is an option in the unit itself to turn off the internal amplifier. If you push the 'menu' button, then go to the setup/settings menu, and then i believe it was under the 'general settings' tab. there's a option called INT IC or something. Make sure that is turned on.

SOURCE: alpine cda 9884 has no sound in cd or ipod mode

actually, chrysler/dodge has factory Infinity sound systems installed. The nice part about these systems is that you dont have to bypass the amplifiers in order to put a new radio in, but simply power up the amp by hooking up the amp turn on wire at the harness. The alpine should have 2 blue wires coming off of the back, one that is solid, the other with a white stripe. The one that is solid only has 12v when the fm/am radio is on (used for power antenna) but cuts off when other sources are used (cd,aux, ipod). My guesses are, you have the amp wire on the vehicle harness (blue) tied into this wire, instead of the BLUE/WHITE wire on the alpine which has 12v as long as the radio is on. i hope this solves your problem, 9 times out of 10 on a chrysler this is it.

Ipod control?

You can purchase the KCA-420i and connect it to to the ai-net port behind the headunit. This will allow you to send signal from your ipod to your alpine headunit while still retaining your operating functions to the ipod. Can be purchased for about 10 bucks on ebay.

How do you hook an ipod up to the CDA-9885 Alpine sterio?

Hello billybob3491,

The best way would be to add the Alpine optional proprietary iPod connection cable. This will give you full control of the iPod from the radio. Your CDA-9885 uses the KCE-422i optional cable.

The cheapest way (with lower quality audio) would be to use a generic FM modulator with a mini-jack input. The Scosche FMMOD01 shown here is sold in numerous stores from $17 - $50. Another downside with this method is that you have no control of the iPod from your head unit. But, hey! It works.

Hope this helps.

Trying to play Ipod through my Alpine cda-9811

you need to set up your system to accept aux. this means you will need to set the 'aux on', as the default setting is 'off'. use the manual and refer to page 23 & 24. please read the instructions carefully, as they are slightly confusing.

Auxilary RCA inputs have no volume control

Your problem stems from the fact that the CDA-7892 is not equipped with an RCA aux-input jack. If you're plugged into RCA connectors at the back of the head unit, they're outputs, not inputs. The sound you hear is just feeding back through the outputs and into the head unit's amplifier. If you want to play your iPod through this head unit, you need to purchase either the auxiliary input adapter (KCA-121B) or iPod adapter (KCA-420i).
