I have the same problem. Almost new ps3 wont do anything but standby then when I try to power it up it goes to a blinking red light. Ive tried everything I know to fix it. I sure wish I could because I have the same problem. I purchased an almost new ps3 from a seller on ebay and all I get is standby then when I try to power it up, I get the blinking red light. Sony wont help because I purchased it from ebay so I am not the original owner. The seller wont help, he swears it didnt have that problem when he shipped it. Ive tried removing the hd, holding down the power button, unplugging it in the back, and nothing helps.

Try this Make sure no game in ps3 turn ps3 off and by the switch at the back unplug it wait a couple of sec then plug it back in turn on buy the switch at the back then hold down power and eject hear a beep keep both preseec till 2nd beep let go should be able set it to ya tv
If ur ps3 console wont start up....then the
things to check are>>> 1.check ur power cable 2.check whether u have
inserted the disc properly and precisely. 3.check the insertion of memory
card... 4.check the video port.......

if you have moved your ps3 to a different tv or something, the video setting can get messed up, thus having to reset the video settings. here are a few steps to do so.
1. put your finger on the reset button and wait until the ps3 is in standby. (Keep holding your finger on it, don't let go)
2. turn off the ps3 completely by switching off the power switch (make sure your still holding your finger on the reset button)
3. turn your ps3 back on (while still holding the reset button) and you will hear a beep. keep holding the reset button until you hear a second beep. let go of the reset button as soon as you hear the second beep
this should reset the video of your ps3. ive done this to my ps3 before because when i was installing linux i almost screwed up my ps3. when i turned on my ps3 no picture or sound would appear. so i called sony and this is what they told me to do and it worked.

This is a general warning code. Try switching off the power in the back of the system, waiting a minute, then switching it back on. Try turning the system back on and see if it happens again.
do you have it conneting to the wall??? or threw something else???? be specific!!! it sounds like your power is not connected right!!! but explain to me in detail!!! check your connection from your ps3 or try cleaning the port from the connection!!
Read this very carefully. Turn off your ps3 from the back. Then turn it back on wait unit the light is red. Turn on the system through the front keep holding the power on. You will hear a beep one time that just tell you that the ps3 is powering on keep holding the button until you hear the second beep this will rest your video setting. If that dosnt work call me at sony
I had that problem, this worked for me: first switch the system off and on at the back( so the red light is on) hold down the power switch at the front until you hear two beeps. It will reset the ps3 and bring up some display and sound menus,just follow the instructions and it should work. I hope this works for you! P.S This will NOT wipe the harddrive
