I have a Dell studio xps 1640 running windows 7 64bit, with an integrated webcam. I recently activated Skype for the first time. Since I activated it, Fast Access facial recognition no longer works and when I go to Webcam central to adjust my settings, I get a blue screen of death and my system reboots. Interestingly, Skype works fine. It seems as if it has taken over my camera and nothing else in the system can use it anymore.

I would go to start, right click my computer, click properties, click the hardware tab, click device manager and see if you see any yellow shields. if you do please email me at [email protected]. what you have to do is go to www.support.dell.com and get the drivers for webcam it could also be on the wrong sorce camera

You could have either a loose connection on the keyboard, or the keyboard is failing.

It is somewhat complicated; be sure to read the instructions thoroughly and only proceed if you are skilled with technology as you can destroy your laptop on the process! Good luck !

Either of these solutions will take care of you. The idiot who suggested that you format and reload the OS from scratch obviously doesn't have a need for the 4 plus hours of time that this will take.

Quick Question? Do have your Dell Resource Disk? If so, your answere will be on that disk.
