Question about Bose Wave Radio
I had the same problem with the disk unreadable error and took my unit to a authorized repair dealer about 100 miles from where I live to have it fixed. It ended up costing me about $300 to have the CD unit totally replaced which is almost as much as I paid for the unit in the first place. I am like a lot of you that used the CD very little although the unit was about 3 years old. I think Bose has a problem and would like us to think it is very rare. I bought a Lifestyle surround system about 14 years ago that has a CD and have never had a problem with it so needless to say I am very disappointed in the Wave II Radio/CD system. I am fairly certain the problem will occur again, but only time will tell.

SOURCE: bose wave radio static only
Try replacing the battery (turn it over, have a look on the bottom there will be a door for a battery) and then trying it. Alternatively connect a aerial as it sounds like a reception problem.

I just posted a similar problem and did 2 more minutes of research on this site to figure it out. Hold down the 'cd mode' and press the on/off button. This turns the display on or off.

There's a line fuse inside the radio, mounted on a PC board. CAUTION:
disconnect the set from power before opening the case or poking around
inside. The fuse could be bad, but these sets are notorious for losing
the power transformer. If the fuse is ok then you are looking at a
$100 repair fee from Bose. You might want to check out the new HD radios -- better sound, MUCH lower price.
