Issue with WEP/WPA (WBR-2310)

I have had the WBR 2310 for about 7 months now and it just started acting finiky.

I updated firmwar/reinstalled...after that it works fine. However, when I go to activate either WEP or WPA, the router freezes and doesn't even function properly if I reset--times out after the restart (I have to complete go through the reinstall process).

Anyone have similar issues/possible fixes...?!?!

Well if you updated the firmware and your still having issues contact dlink for a possible replacement it sounds like the hardware could be bad or you can try uploading same firmware by crash reseting router and uploading latest firmware again.

What is my wpa key for my ps3 what is it,it is for my ps3

The WPA key or WEP key you are looking for was entered by you or your service provider. You will have to look at the settings in the router to find it, usually under wireless configuration or wireless security settings in the router itself if you don't remember what it was set to.

My D-Link WBR 2310 router signal keeps dropping. Is this a problem with firmware?

This type of problem can be related to a firmware issue on the router and what you can do here to try in correcting the problem is to do first some changes on the wireless settings of the router like the channel and play around with it and look for a stable channel but if still the same problem do a firmware upgrade on it.

My D-Link WBR - 1310 router is giving me grief. I am trying to look over the settings because we just got a new televsion that has wifi, but it keeps telling us to check our access point. It wont let me...

If it says anything about access point, it does like the encryption type like as WEP WPA WPA2. Also there will be a code after that, you might have to use AES or TKIP for your television, that you have to change by logging into the router and changing.

I HAVE A LAPTOP, BUT MY LAPTOP IS LIMITED ACCESS TO D-LINK WIRELESS (MODEL WBR-2310). iT SAID CONNECTED SUCESSFUL, HOWEVER IT IS LIMITED, AND CANNOT SEACH ETERNET. JUST APPEAR ERROR PAGE. i CAN SEARCH...

Reset the router and try it with the WPA2. If you haven't you should update firmware to version 1.05. This version fixes the WPA2 authentication issue. However, be forewarned that if you update to this version, it seems to reboot the router if you put too much traffic through it...

I have d-link wbr 2310 how do i lock it.

With a key :-)

I'm guessing you're trying to lock the router to wireless access, so if you have something else in mind, skip the next. Wireless encryption comes in 2 modes on a D-Link, WEP and WPA-PSK. WEP can be as simple as 10 Hex characters (64 bit) in the form of 1011121314, or FACE123456 etc., or it can be 26 Hex characters. Hex characters 0-9 A-F are not case sensitive (well the letters part) so you have less to remember. WPA-PSK is a code from 8-64 characters that you can shoose. They are CasESENsiTiVe, and usually don't show up in the router once you set them, so if you lose them, you get to erase it and start again. Each method is hackable by someone with computer skillz, but my neighors have not been that smart in 5 years. The link to setting up WEP on a rev B is here http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=WBR-2310&rev=WBR-2310_RevB

Just in case you are thinking about a different lock, these routers have Network and Web filters (about page 34 of your manual). You can allow only computers you know, by MAC addresses, or you can deny certain web addresses like facebook, or youtube, etc.

Hope this helps.

Carl

D-link WBR-2310 has serious drop out problems

I'm pretty sure that downgrading the firmware to 1.0.3 will work. I had been running at this level for quite some time and for some reason I decided to upgrade to the latest version which started the problems for me. I am downgrading to this now and I expect better results. All of the firmware versions are available at http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=470&sec=0. You pick the right hardware revision. PLEASE NOTE: Save off/remember your settings as when you change the firmware it resets all of them back to system defaults.

I was told by a DLink tech that I need to upgrade my wireless router with FirmwareWVR-2310-RevisionA as I can't get the wireless connection He gave me the link but being a senior my hearing isn't all that...

I'm on the Dlink site now and have often used it for years in the past as I normally only buy Dlink products as they are my favorites. There is NO router designated WVR-2310 on the site, so I'm guessing that you are accidently misrepresenting the router model #. However I did find a WBR-2310 so I will temporarily assume ( dangerous ) that the WBR-2310 is what you really mean, but you should verify this by looking at your router again. I'm an old man too and blind in one eye and poor vision in the remaining eye.
Firmware updates for your model are located here
One thing that SHOULD be remembered tho is NEVER to update a firmware in a wireless mode of operation, only use a wired connection to created the updated firmware on your router. You never really mentioned what your exact issue is with the router so I can only give generic information concerning the firmware update process but you read all the small print included in the firmware download before proceeding with the update. But most important of all is make sure you have a strong internet connection through your router and that you are using a wired mode of operation, not a wireless mode of operation. Hope this has been of help and that I chose the correct model router for you.

D-link WBR 2310 will not download large files.

update firmware, reset to factory settings (not a power cycle reset as most ISPs say to do)
