I have a nikon s570 that is about 18 months old. (not under warantee anymore) it won't turn on, so we bought a brand new battery, charged it and it still won't turn on. Nothing. no motor noise, no lights, nothing. any ideas? nikon wants us to send it to them for evaluation and fixing....any thoughts?

Nikon Coolpix S570 - Monitor freezes after pressing any button on the camera body.

The new battery may be really dead (discharged). Please leave battery out for a while and then put it back in and plug in the power plug. (Do NOT push any button on the camera) Make sure the camera CAN CHARGE the battery first. Typically one Green LED lights up and another one flashes. If it does this then WAIT until the battery is fully charged.

I haven't turned the camera on for a couple of years. I've tried charging the battery, but I can't get it to power up. Do I need to replace battery or is it something else?

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Nikon S3000 dosent turn on

Have you updated the firmware? According to Nikon, when the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. Usually, you'll receive the message "Battery Exhausted" if this is the problem... but you could also have a completely dead camera as well.

See Nikon's website, download updated firmware to your camera and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

I've had my s570 nikon for less than a year and started getting battery exhausted messages. After buying a new charger and new batteries I am still having problem. Will they take the camera back and...

If you purchase a product, you will be given a guarantee, check if the guaranteed time has not expired then it will be replaced. But if it has expired then you get a new one.

Hi! I have a Nikon Coolpix. I haven't used it in a while. I charged it over night but it won't turn on.

Your batery is dead they don't like long period of staying discharging (If you 100% shure that your Nikon is working) The time of charge dosen't matter.

How do I get my photos from my CoolPIX S570, to my computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

I have to charge my digital camera by the usb port but it will not charge at all why?

The S570 doesn't have any charging circuitry. Connecting it to a computer's USB port drains the battery faster, since the camera has to communicate with the computer (even if it's only to say it's got nothing to say). The battery MUST be charged outside the camera, using the supplied MH-63 charger.

If you need a charger, you can order one from Nikon at
http://shop.nikonusa.com/store/nikonusa/en_US/pd/productID.213504100

If you want to go with a third-party charger, one such is

My lightly used nikon coolpix s570 has developed a power issue. Meaning that with a fully charged battery, the camera won't turn on. sometimes removing and reinserting the battery will get it to turn on....

If you have a second battery, fully charge it and try it. If you do not have a second battery, it make either be a defective battery or a battery that is not properly charging. Try powering on the camera until you get it powered up, either by reinserting the battery or turning it one. Then purposely use the flash and focus until you totally exhaust the battery. Then charge it for the recommended time. Try the battery in the camera once more. Also look into the battery compartment and make sure there is no corrosion. After these actions, the only other thing I could suggest is trying a new battery or sending it in for repair. Usually it is the battery though.

Can i plug my nikon coolpix s570 into my computer to charge battery

No. You must either remove the battery and charge it in the MH-63 charger or use a nikon coolpix s570. The best bet is to get a second spare battery so that you can recharge a spent battery.
