I had the same problem on the exact same model... Soon enough, your laptop's going to die especially if it seems like your laptop heats up super excessively when you watch videos of any kinds or play any type of graphics games.

Folks! You are not alone on the issues with the HP tx1000, tx1320us, and all of the other like models that have the motherboard defect. I keep hoping HP will wake-up and do the right thing by correcting this issue. Please keep posting and calling.
Here are links to other messages in the forums dealing with the same bad motherboard.

I have a tx1332la and i have the same problem. Suddently the wireless lan disappear! I tried everything, reinstalled the drivers several times and nothing!

  • Adeade1 Apr 24, 2009

It's crazy. I have the exact same problem. My wireless lan just disappeared. But when I use my sprint wireless card, it works. I called hp and they told me sorry my warranty expired 9 days earlier and I have to pay to even talk to me. Now my mother board is totally dead and I was considering spending almost $300 bucks to fix it or just get a new laptop and remove my hard drive. This is really a junk. Now that I have seen several people have the same problem, Maybe it's time to scratch hp off my laptop list. I have always used hp in the past several years though.

It's not the assistant, it is the way the motherboard was designed. The nVidia chipset overheats and the first sign of danger is the missing WiFi card. Sorry, but this will only get worse; soon the laptop will be inoperable. Back up your data and hope for the best (while looking for another brand of laptop to purchase). You can try to escalate the repair by calling CS, but know that if it is fixed, it will break again. Let me repeat, this will happen to every tx1000 series laptop.

Same problem here with the tx1000 Pavilion notebook. First, a sudden loss of wireless, then repeated blue screens of death. Called HP and they said warranty expired 10 days ago. They want $450 to fix it. All the posts say this problem will reoccur so it sounds like a waste of time and money. I will never EVER buy another HP product. HP should recall the tx1000 Pavilion. For shame, HP!!!!

The problem lies between the board and the terminal slot of mini-pcie that sit your wireless card. The solder joint eventually create a gap due to heat cause by nearby power regulator in battery terminal and also the tendency to pop-up one of the lead terminals of the slot especially at the back ( pushing up when you insert the wifi card and screw it). Resolder the joints by applying heat using pointed soldering iron and avoid shorting the leads, as much as possible use magnifying glass. Hope this helps!

wireless lan: pavilion tx1000 - noavatar_s.gif puma165165
I believe this to be a SCAM to get your EMAIL address. If you have fix post it. The fact is there is NO FIX. This issue is well documented on sites like hplies dot com. This issue will be the start of the end of HP. They are putting a blind eye to this issue. It is due to a defective Navidia chipset that there is NO FIX. Rank:nonexpert_s.gif Apprentice

I discovered a repair for the problem with the TX 1000 blue screen and loss of wireless. You must remove the motherboard,. First remove keyboard then slide out CD tray then remove top cover. You should have a reasonable mechanical skill do do this. After you remove the motherboard apply a liberal amount of heat on the NVIDIA chips there is one on the top of the board and one under the heat sink assembly which is very small. After you apply the heat hold the chip down for about one minutes to allow it to reseat. You must also clean the old cooling paste off the chips and the cooling sink. I had to scrape mine off with a knife. Replace the rubberized heat sink pad with a copper shim you can make from a thin piece of copper or get one off Ebay. Apply a LIBERAL amount of new heat sink paste then put back together. If all else fails you can replace the motherboard which is reasonably priced, google it the HP part number is 441097-001 also there are many listed on Ebay also showing repair facilities for about $100. Good Luck your repair may be as simple as a couple of hours work, or send in for a inexpensive repair

Avoid damage for your Laptop, The better solution is buy an external usb wi-fi card, just 39.00 more less, use the laptop until that expire and then, never buy again an HP Product,

This is a problem with many current hp laptops. to get moving on this issue, you need to plug your laptop into a router directly via an CAT5e patch cable (if need it can be bought at most major retailers including walmart) after plugging in, you should have no problem getting online and getting windows updates. windows has released an update with information as to go about reporting and resolving this issue

Installed windows 7 on my hp tx1000 tablet pc and now no wireless card

wireless card issue is a typical promblem with the Tx1000, first thing is that you changed the operating system and window 7 is unable to pick up the wireless card hardware, and a driver is needed to be installed for the wireless card, which you can find at the Hp site or the broadcom site if you have the broadcom wireless card. Other then that, if nothing works, then try to see if the laptop can locate the wireless card trough the hardware/sound device manager in the control panel. After opening the device manager and scrolling to hardwares and the wireless card is not found, then this is the typical tx1000 wifi mystery promblem. This promblem is associated with the laptop overheating and thus caused the card expansion slot to become defect. This by far is the start of a more promblematic issue that many other tx1000 owner is having. Google "mysterious wifi card on hp tx1000" and there are thousand out there with the same situation.

Pavilion TX1000 - WiFi card suddenly not detected

The solution is, get a USB wifi adapter, because that card is done. HP REFUSES to recognize this problem, and since the majority of failures happen after the warranty expires (mine did) HP just says you are SOL. You can get decent wireless adapters for $20, and your wireless problems will be solved. Unfortunately, expect your laptops motherboard/chipset/dc port to fail within a year :(

Bluetooth in HPTx1000

I believe there's a switch on the HP pavilion TX1000 to enable its Wireless LAN and Bluetooth.

To the right of the audio inputs and outputs is a slider switch and an LED. This one controls the wireless devices, both the Wireless LAN and Bluetooth and is blue while the wireless devices are enabled and red when they are not.

If you are using Windows Vista on your computer, you may go click on this link for instructions on how to use bluetooth with Vista.
