I have a fpd1975w hood up to a 9800 radeon pro, the monitor power light flashes about every five seconds, but it will never actually power up, any ideas? thanks
Your monitor is not receiving a signal from the computer.
First try the monitor on another computer and/or try a different monitor on this computer. If the monitor continues to have a problem, then either replace it or have it repaired. If a different monitor does not have the same problem when hooked up to this computer, then once again the monitor is bad.
If a different monitor has the same problem, then try the next few steps.
Turn off your computer, wait 5 minutes. Then remove your video card. Wait 5 more minutes (video cards take longer to drain residual charges than most other components) and then install the video card again.
Try borrowing another working video card and connect it to your sstem after removiing the current one. If you can see the text during the boot process when you turn on your computer, then your video card is bad and needs to be replaced.
If none of the above steps works, you may have a problem with a different component in your system. While off and unplugged, disconnect all expansion cards (RAM memory too) and drives with the exception of your video card and then attempt to boot your computer. if you are able to see the tex during the boot process, then some other component is bad; replace them one at a time after shutting down and unplugging your system until the problem comes back. That will be your bad part that needs to be replaced.
