  • uncola302 May 04, 2009

+Everything was fine when we turned the TV off last night. Went to turn it back on today and the power light just blinks 3 times and quits. We recently stopped our direct TV but we've been able to watch DVDs since then. Can't figure out what the problem is. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the two large caps in the psu have gone slightly low in value and may need replacing.

These blinks (flashes) are fault indication. By the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Count the blinks occur at one time switch ON, carefully. Do it once again, and make sure about the number of blinks. If the flashes are continious, non-stop, the main system control IC should be suspected. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. It has blinking codes detail to many brand TVs. Pull up older posts. Check the site in 'Mosaic' view. It will make search easy. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Toshiba TV

Will not power, led blinking
check R640 (1K 1/4w) if open replace ic600 (8-759-670-30)
Standby led blinks slowly, a few times, chassis won't start up
I changed the vertical deflection ic type TDA8170 and I measured two leaky capacitors in the power supply. Better to change all 4 capacitors in the power unit, everything was then ok !
