All Blue Ray players need to be updated from time to time to keep up with the growing technology of Blue Ray. PS3 is the same way. It is asking you to update your PS3 in order to play the disc. On the back of the PS3 is a Ethernet port (looks like an over sized phone jack) connect this to your internet (modem) and it will update your encryption key and software needed to play Blue Ray discs. It is recommended to use CD -R disc to create the firmware update disc. I hope you're clear with downloading the update from support page. Once you download and save the file in the folder in the computer, you can double click the file to extract. You will be prompted to save the UPDATE_BDPS300_VER0550.ISO file in a folder. Most of the customers will be making mistake here after... We need to use a burning software which is capable to burning discs from ISO images. ISO image is nothing but a RAW format of burned image. I will give you the instructions to burn using Nero.. Steps will be almost same in all ISO capable software. Open installed nero software from computer. You may locate it under Start Menu programs. Go to File Menu (Some times you will get a wizard where you can select the Image Burning option or burn ISO option) Navigate the extracted .ISO file we saved in the computer. follow the onscreen instructions. to update your player, go to the website of your player's manufacturer, (e.g, www.samsung.com, if samsung is the manufacturer of your player).

Once the site opens, go to or click software on the page, and download software update on you your PC, then burn the downloaded software into an empty disc and insert it into your player, then your player will automatically to the update from the CD.

Or, if your player has a USB, copy the downloaded software into a usb flash drive, then fix it into your player and press usb from your remote.

Software updates have to be done on bluray players whenever the technology in bluray discs themselve is changed. If you call the number for 20th century fox on the back of the bluray a representative there will explain to you what has changed technologically in this bluray that has caused there to be software updates for all of the bluray players. I believe LG can send you a disc so that you can update your player. Give them a call. The bluray players are all manufactured and shipped to the stores. In the meantime if an update is needed and its sitting on the shelf at the store until you buy it, even if you've just bought it an hour ago it will still need to be updated. The stores do not unbox the blu ray players and update them for you. However the Geek squad will update bluray players for customers for a fee.

Updated firmware last night (for the Bd370) and the main movie disc for Chronicles of Narnia: Lion,witch,wardrobe worked (after previously stalling). However, the bonus disc still doesn't work when I play it (just a blank screen). I traded the Blue-ray DVD from where I bought it for another one, and it made no difference. However, both Narnia discs played okay in the store on a Sharp blue-ray DVD/Tv combo.

You have to go to the manufacturers website to download a firmware update , burn it to a disk on your computer / laptop and use that in your blue ray player to update. The instructions on how to do it will be on the site.
