Hello Get in these links. You will get information about how to change the password. futuremark.yougamers.com/.../showthread.php?...bios-password...ace www.recoverbiospassword.com/.../acer-aspire-3680-3690-bios-passw http://www.dataentryjobs.us/67948.html tim.id.au/.../acer/
I use http://www.unlockbiosrecovery.com/Unlock_Acer_HDD.php when I need to unlock an Acer HDD or Acer Bios, they only charge $20 and guarantee it. In my job repairing laptops I get one or two a month that is locked with bios password or hard drive password.and they have always worked unlocking them.
if the password is changed for the operating system like windows or linux. then you need to re install the operating system. other wise if your bios password is set, then just reset your pc and it will be gone and will be like new without any kind of password
Is it a BIOS password or just a Windows password? If it's the BIOS password, you can do 2 things; 1- remove the BIOS battery located inside of the motherboard, remove it for 24 hrs to be sure there is no more data. 2- take it to the repaire shop and they might be able to help you.
If it's just the Windows password you will need software called "password remover" you can find it online for around $20 or take it to the same repair shop and they can open it for you using the same software. You will need this software to remove any "Windows Password"
There may be a problem with doing this so bear with me. If your laptop has the Acer E-Power programs on it, there maybe only one way to clear the BIOS password and that is by re-flashing the BIOS with a USB key. If your laptop does not have this software package then the easiest way is to "short" the special jumpers located on the motherboard in the RAM memory compartment. In that compartment is two small points of solder clearly marked CMOS. These two point have to be "shorted" together while the laptop is powered on to clear the BIOS password and reset the CMOS. A small piece of wire will do the trick, but it has to stay connected for at least 45 seconds or untill the laptop boots. Then remove the "short" and reboot only using the ac adapter...leave the main battery out during this procedure. I'll print the guide below as well as trying to include a pic.
Click on the link below, it is the service manual for the 5515. Go to page 140 and follow the directions.
You cannot chan ge SN of your laptop. SN of the laptop and SN of the motherboard are not supposed to be the same as for every component in your laptop has it's own SN being produced by different manufacturers even for one single laptop, and the laptop, as a machine built from those parts has it's own. SN is not changable in any way.
