I have the same problem with my A80. It started in Sept. 2008. First, ocassional fuzzy pinkish-purplish lines in the LCD, but the rest of the image in the display looked normal. Over about a week this problem deteriorated into a totally light pink hued display (when taking pictures) and pictures (when reviewing pictures I took). When not taking pictures (for example, when powering on the camera and you get the "Canon" logo) the display looks good. One time after my camera "died", while I was trying to figure out if I had inadvertantly messed up some setting to cause this (doubtful), I was able to take and review a couple of perfectly good photos. That success was short lived, however, and everything since has been a consistently lovely shade of washed-out pink. I don't know anything about these cameras, but it seems to me like these symptoms are similar to what's described in other posts as CCD image sensor failure which apparently Canon will fix for free. I haven't contacted them yet to find out, but I will.

    Hi all,

Help! I have the same problem, and I'm not terribly fond of pink :)
My images don't have a pink bar, but they are all tinted pink. This is a new & sudden problem, and I haven't experienced any trouble before from my now 5yo camera.

    Assistance appreciated,
    Maxine

Check the color temp control on monitor. If set for warm picture, that might account for the pink tint you talk about.

Sony KP-53HS30 Projection TV has pink and blue hue w/timer blink

Depending on your TV, you may have a Color Temperature (Color Temp) and/or Hue setting in the menu. Use these options to adjust the picture to the setting that best suits your viewing preference.
If your TV has a Color Temp setting, you will normally have the following options to select from:
  • Cool: Gives the picture a cooler, slightly bluish appearance.
  • Neutral: Gives the picture a neutral, more natural look and appearance.
  • Warm: Gives the picture a warmer, slightly reddish appearance.
If your TV has a Hue setting, follow the appropriate step below to make adjustments:
  1. Move the setting to the right to reduce the reddish appearance.
  2. Move the setting to the left to reduce the greenish appearance.

Color convergance

The green hue (I had it too) is a result of the optical block failing.
